  1. Sounds like Hendry thinks a whole lot more of the Dempster as starter idea than Lou does... I think that if Hendry can sell Dempster to another team with that kind of optimism the easier it will be to move him!
  2. Thanks Rob! If the Cubs make that Roberts deal that moves it another 2 spots down to 35.
  3. Thank Woffy! That's a lot of talent for Roberts and a lot of money for Fukedome.
  4. LOL. No kidding. Great way to start the day, bowl of Cheerios and the sports section, where your own GM is making fun of your lack of talent. I'm confused on how Hendry is making fun of his lack of talent?
  5. I was wondering with these recent moves what the 40 man is at right now?
  6. Sullivan brings up a good point I hadn't thought about. If we acquire these two, it doesn't rule out DeRosa playing in right field. That looks like a pretty good lineup to me. I might juggle Therio, Fukudome and DeRosa a bit but, it kinda works. Roberts,2B Fukudome, CF Lee, 1B Ramirez, 3B Soriano, LF Derosa, RF Theriot, SS Soto, C This could be a pretty effective lineup. Is DeRosa incapable of playing in RF? I guess that's the question. Derosa played plenty of RF in Texas, but his bat isn't nearly as valuable there as it is at 2B (or SS). Maybe the lack of power leaves something to be desired, but I think there's something to be said for having as many productive guys in your lineup as possible. I'd just like to see more long innings because we make pitchers work and get productive outs when we make outs. I think you could plug Pie into CF to sub also or even start a lot of games.
  7. Iowa St thought they pulled off a major move until they noticed it was the wrong Miles.
  8. http://wintermeetings.mlblogs.com/nashvilleconfidential/2007/12/nothing_close_o.html Prior/Marshall for Hamilton, please. The Reds owe the Cubbies a favor so I think just one of them would do.
  9. Yeah, I've been reading that as well. I just don't see that happening. I can't see him leaving Iowa. I also don't know how I would feel about that. He turned around an Iowa program a couple years ago, but his teams have been down the past couple of years and he can't even beat Iowa freaking State. Decent point. Michigan is a selector when it comes to recruiting though and that may make a big difference. I don't think Fernetz has the talent at Iowa like you guys do and he does a lot with what he has. I'm sure the Iowa fans would know more about his X's and O's but I think he'd be able to recruit very well for you. Does Michigan want a 3 yards and a cloud of dust guy or are they willing to except a different philosophy? That's what I don't think anyone but the higher ups at Michigan knows. It's always been about tradition, but the run-left crap hasn't worked for them for a while now. They need a new philosophy or they're going to get left behind and end up like Notre Dame and Nebraska. That's why this hire is a huge deal. I don't think Michigan needs to hire the big name like Ferentz. They just have to think outside the box and look at guys like Petersen from Boise State or Kelly from Cincinnati, or even Martin from GVSU. What did Peterson do before Boise? I just wonder if he's not successful because of Haskins before him or was that his philosophy that made them better? Before head coaching, he was the OC at Boise State. Do you think it was him or Haskins that made that team better? Haskins hasn't done too well at Colorado.
  10. Thats 3 very random places. Montana and Quebec are excellent fishing areas.
  11. I want: Fukedome RF Bradley CF Lee 1B Ramirez 3B Soriano LF DeRosa 2B Soto C Theriot/Cedeno SS
  12. If they get these two would the budget blow up? God, I'd love to have these two in the OF and then trade for Roberts. I'd be perfectly happy with keeping DeRosa at 2B if they had both Fukudome and Bradley. Murton becomes the fourth OFer, if he's not traded in another deal. If they could trade Dempster and/or Marquis (without eating a lot of the contracts), I think the money would work. True. It would make a nice team right there with some decent mobility.
  13. If they get these two would the budget blow up? God, I'd love to have these two in the OF and then trade for Roberts.
  14. Dusty probably cried when he saw Cantu was released!
  15. I'd rather go this route than trade quality young players for a marginal CF or pay 15 for Fukedome.
  16. • After outfielder Kosuke Fukudome signs, one potential backup plan for teams that lose out is free agent Milton Bradley. Bradley was last seen tearing his ACL in that bizarre tangle with his manager (Bud Black) in September. Teams that have kicked the tires on him report they've been told that doctors expect him to be able to play again sometime in April, if not Opening Day. His most recent team, the Padres, remains interested. Outside of Barry Bonds, Bradley is the only free agent who had a .500 slugging percentage and .400 on-base percentage last season. From ESPN This might not be a bad move if it's true.
  17. I think they're completely appropriate. He's on something if he thinks league average performance should earn him $9m per. Not if he can get it.
  18. Oh someone tell Theo to just chill the heck out. Enough dude. Maybe he'll do what I thought the Yanks would do. He'll sign Fukedomw and that'll give him more toys to throw the Twins way.
  19. Let's please get back to the List guys and not this please? Post on the secret site thread or make a lounge one in social if you want to talk about this stuff. Thanks.
  20. It should be called "The Never Ending Interview" Yes...and he should be flying a luck dragon!
  21. Sign Fukudome for CF, trade Murton and Fox for Teahen, trade Pie and others for Bedard, and then call it an offseason. :D Could Teahen play RF everyday? If DeRosa is at second, who plays right against a lefty? He played RF everyday last year. Would it be productive for the team to let him do so?
  22. that's not gonna happen. They get 2 #1 draft picks next year if they don't trade him. Those teams have to be able to beat that.
