  1. I'm going to sit back and see how it unfolds before I jump on the Cubs for a rumor.
  2. Bud says the winner of the All-Star game. EDIT: I'm kidding....I don't know. I just realized that $elig'$ ideas are so goofy that somebody might think this may be the way they really do pick.
  3. He's no Carlos Beltran, that's for sure. Carlos Beltran isn't Carlos Beltran.
  4. I agree with both those statements. I hope that Cedeno has figured it out and continues his success and I think that Theriot will be a utility guy who hits 220-260 but always has a decent OBP.
  5. Annoyed that they are taking so long or annoyed because he would rather leave?
  6. I remember when Depp was doing the movie "Ed Wood" and Sarah Jessica Parker said how depressing it was to be a woman and not be as attractive in a dress as Johnny Depp was.
  7. I think he means as long as he doesn't pull a Bobby Hill and come in expecting to be handed the job and then proceed to stink it up. Murton seems to be a hard worker and I doubt that he would pull a Bobby. What the Cubs (Hendry+Baker) say over the off season means little to me and what they actually do during the season is what matters. We heard all these nice things about Dubois last year and where did that get him? I'm all for Hendry getting some quality players and making Murton earn it but if he gets more of the Macias/Holla types I see the 2006 being as big of a joke as 2005 was.
  8. I suppose Rickey should have had the nickname "3rd Person". I wonder what the top all-time leadoff OBP's are? Also, what are the percentage leaders of guys that get on base that end up scoring. For example...Juan Pierre gets on base 175 times and scores 110 while Kendell gets on base the the same amount of times and scores 90 runs. I understand that the guys behind them are responsible for the most part but how much does speed play a part in them scoring? Is there a reliable scource that can measure these kinds of things? Also, to take away points for getting thrown out as well as giving points for stealing that extra base. I know Tim has shown me something that discusses this before. Of course it doesn't take into account the mental aspect of a speed threat on first.
  9. Do they test for steroids in Japan?
  10. How long before the Cubs start signing some of Bakers old teammates too?
  11. I agree with you. I'm curious if Wood struggles with injuries in 2006, what kind of deal the Cubs would offer him. It is possible the Wood might want a new start somewhere else if he is injured again. I really wouldn't blame him if he decided to go back to Texas as a free agent after the 2006 season. If it were me that's what I'd do. It just seems like things might not work out being in Chicago and fresh start physically and mentally may be the right thing to do.
  12. Isn't it just like the Cubs to let the best candidate get hired or signed by another team while they wait for the contract to expire? Sosa, A.Gonzalez and Baker. Yeah, they traded Sosa 1 year before but traded him way too late. Hendry has to get creative and make the right move and not sit and wait. This team will always be a step behind.....always.
  13. Congratulations Raisin. Do you realize if you go undefeated you won't be able to go to the BSC Championship game if Texas and VTech remain unbeaten too? I know it's a long way to go but this no playoff is a joke. If we go undefeated, we'd have beaten USC. We'd be in the national championship. But, we'll lose 2 games out of Cal, ASU and USC, I think. Hopefully no more than 2 losses. Not when you are #16 and they are 2 and 3. History shows this to be true over and over again. I admit you will have a tough time going undefeated but even if you do the system is going to bounce you out.
  14. Maybe our two teams should meet in the inaugural what ever happened to those teams bowl. I expect to be winning 8-10 games in 2 years again.
  15. Congratulations Raisin. Do you realize if you go undefeated you won't be able to go to the BSC Championship game if Texas and VTech remain unbeaten too? I know it's a long way to go but this no playoff is a joke.
  16. Interesting. Baker would have batted him 7th or 8th.
  17. I forgot about Jose. Did Rose have a decent OBP? I can't remember.
  18. Somebody has been studying his monthly splits. Unfortunately, a lot of fans and we will see if Hendry is included, remember those hot April streaks and think they pertain to the whole season. Oh yeah, and the Gold Glove is a joke.
  19. I don't understand the bong thing?
  20. Bruce's article got me thinking about the great leadoff hitters in the game. I just keep getting back to Rickey Henderson. I just can not think of a better leadoff guy. Speed, power, and high OBP...Rickey had it all. Also, who was the best Cub leadoff hitter ever? I just can not think of one....not one that had 3 or more good years with the Cubs.
  21. It's funny you say that. I'm sure Baker has suggested to Hendry that he sign Tommy John to be that lefty starter for 2006. Why get a cheap immatation?
  22. Somebody tell me if Hart doesn't make a difference for Michigan. He knows how to be a RB in every shape of the word.
  23. You're having a nice year there buckaroo try to enjoy it will ya?
  24. I don't think that they want Stanton for the playoffs....just for the 3 Yankee games.
