  1. Everytime I listen to ESPN Radio some is going on about how Louisville will win the NC, and I felt with their schedule they very easily could. I was suprised how far they fell in the rankings after Sat. Do you think they will still win the BE and make it to a BCS game? I don't know who else will could win. Maybe WVU? We'll see how WVU does against VTech. This series usually has the underdog win for some strange reason.
  2. I don't know about USS but I think Walker will be traded in the off season. I agree with you that Walker would be a better choice than Theroit at this stage.
  3. Murton would be a tailor made 2 hole hitter, were it not for the manager of our team. His approach is that of a #2 hitter, he just hits from the wrong side. But, he hits well enough to the right side to make up for not being able to block the C's view, if the runner takes off for 2B. If Walker is the leadoff hitter I don't think that would make it a problem.
  4. I think it might depend on how many infielders the Cubs have on the bench. Also, if the Cubs decide to go with 14 or 15 pitchers next year Hairston would be more valuable. What role are we talking about? I assumed he meant Cruz Jr. and CPatt instead of CPatt/Hairston .

  6. Is "clutchiness" really a word? Seems like it'll be the catchphrase for 2006 like "Chemistry" was in 2005. Go Cubs!
  7. What was the deal with that? At least they lost to another BE team and it would have been ok if S.Florida beat Penn State.
  8. I'm excited to see the South Florida vs Miami game. I'd love to see the swing from power go towards Tampa.
  9. Concerned LSCF, sure and it's going to happen too. That's why you give Dusty Cedeno, Nomar, Hairston and Theriot for his middle IF and not Perez or Macias. If Hendry can't figure this out then it might be time for him to go as well. Hopefully Jim Bowden's idiocy will continue and Neifi will be a Nat next year. I'm afraid that this off season we will see that Hendry and Baker are closer than we think. :loco: In that case, when the beat writers write up their post-mortem on this season (I know Bruce will), they need to educate the common fan that Neifi's .275 BA is not a plus when it's accompanied with a .290 OBP. They need to be educated that Macias's versatility means nothing, since doing everything poorly isn't a plus. If people are educated, maybe the image conscious Trib will think twice before green lighting any dopey signings. I never thought that Hendry would be that narrow minded until now and this off season is going to be his defining moment. I will be thrilled if he proves me wrong. I hope for the Cubs sake that Hendry does realize what you just wrote and if intellegent writers like Bruce do somehow keep pounding this thought...it can't hurt. It can hurt when it comes to Baker though because being proved wrong makes you less of a man.
  10. I think LA wows them for Dunn. Couple of those pitchers and Cincy will jump. That looks like a very good match Raw. LA has too deep of a minor league system to compete with. The Dodger prospects can't be looking too hot considering a lot of those guys got to play on the big club this year. Looks like Edwin Jackson may be a bust. I thought they had a bunch of top prospects? Just because Jackson struggled doesn't mean the rest will plus I'm sure the Reds are going to want pitching...how old I do not know.
  11. Heh, out here, Nike University refers to the University of Oregon. The Washington Huskies come to Pasadena to take on UCLA this Saturday. Pre...Pre...Pre...Pre...Pre... Washington is one of those teams that you never know who is going to show up.

  13. If he played for the Yanks he'd be bigger than God or The Beatles.
  14. Cabrera has a ring and Pujols doesn't and that makes him better. It works for Jeter.
  15. You know the season is down the tubes when a Fresh Prince re-run or the White Sox game is more appealing... Or a Rockford Files marathon. Nice to see the Cubs playing their AAAA team as the final home game. You have to give the fans their moneys worth.

  18. I turned to channel WGN and it said MLB Baseball was on....why are they showing a Cub game then?
  19. I hope the players feel the same way you do. :D
  20. Those two teams could playing each other fighting for last place and still be the first highlight shown on ESPN.
  21. I'd be fine with GM Jr. I think he might be a decent platoon with Hairston.
  22. when he says 'i'd like to give some others a shot, too' he does realize that he has the authority to do so, correct? he acts as if his hands are tied. 'well, i wanted to start hill today and give soto a start behind the plate, but it's just not my call.' Yep...he had his shot. See you in the spring Theriot.
  23. Abreu was until the All-Star game. I say Oswalt.
  24. Thanks TT. I don't understand why Grieve never gets a start. Does Baker not like this guy or what? I admit it would be tough to beat striking out 4 times in a game like Burnitz.
