  1. i gotta say cuse, your posts are getting increasingly weird as this season progresses down the toilet...I take it that you're pretty well disgusted wth Johnny B.'s antics? Frustrated beyond my control 29yl. Sarcasm is my only hope for Cub sanity at this point.
  2. Not really....it's just a pickup game. Since the Cards have clinched 1st...why can't Thoriot get a start? Forget it...why do I even bother.
  3. Dusty made Prior a really nice dinner and it took him too long to eat it...that's why he wasn't warmed up.
  4. Hendry won't get fired. Remember, the only reason why Lynch isn't the GM is because MacPhail accepted his resignation --- the second resignation he submitted to MacPhail. So, if MacPhail wasn't bright enough to fire Lynch than he's not about to fire Hendry. Maybe there was a spelling error in the first resignation. Andy likes things to be neat and tidy.
  5. Hehehe....I figured you'd like him because of the way he looks at "new technology". Instead of flying the Cubs would be traveling by stagecoach.
  6. I kind of mentioned that earlier, which justifies his value being over what it would be if he played in Wrigley. However, he is still way overpriced. Is there a difference between hitting brick and a garbage bag? I don't think this should be the direction the Cubs should go in.
  7. There are many things the Cubs could do this off season that frighten me Vance.
  8. I think 2005 was his break year. It has been a brutal season in which the Cubs have seen themselves get blown out of contention in the division, and turn belly up in the Wild Card after two consecutive seasons over .500. The offseason was excruciating, in large part due to Hendry's mishandling of Sosa and the subsequent deals made to that debacle. If you bought into Hendry's insistance that money should be kept back for mid-season additions, well, I give you Matt Lawton. Everyone from MacPhail to Baker should lose their jobs, including Hendry. The reason why I am giving Hendry the benefit of doubt is that I hope that he saw what a poor manager Baker was and is and he didn't want to make a big trade at the deadline to make the future that much worse. I'm clinging to this belief and if Hendry reups Baker the gloves will come off. I'm hoping that Hendry finds a way to let Baker wiggle away while Baker gets to keep that pride that he has so much of.
  9. :sunny: Perspectives....that's what we all need! This off season to me is what will determine the direction the Cubs are going to go. I've defended Hendry but if he does any of the above...I will not be able to argue his case again.
  10. Now to have the Cubs get Gonzalez and resign Perez and Macias while giving Baker an extension and my time here is complete. Signed, Satan it doesn't upset me as much as it does others. we have money to spend, we'll spend it regardless of whether maddux comes back next year. is he overpaid? yes. is it a disaster for us? no. he's a serviceable pitcher that will log 200 innings. not worth 9-11 mil, but not the worst thing that could happen, either. I'm glad to have him back, actually. we won't have to worry about filling that 5th starter spot, seeing as how the young stable of starters we had 3 years ago disappeared rather quickly. If it stops at Maddux Sully I'm ok with it. It's the domino effect that has me worried.
  11. Why not just put Murton in CF? He would have below skills on defense but his hitting would be above average.
  12. Is IsoD the difference between average and OBP? Oh and...what's a diorama?
  13. Now to have the Cubs get Gonzalez and resign Perez and Macias while giving Baker an extension and my time here is complete. Signed, Satan
  14. The duplicative nature of the comment was not lost on myself. I enjoy that type of banter. Are you wearing a smoking jacket and holding a snifter of brandy? Did somebody say rat?
  15. Sorry to lock it but the first one wins.
  16. IMO the only way Nomar moves to the OF is to stay with the Cubs. I think he'll go to third or SS for some team otherwise.
  17. I think he was catching in the bullpen. He can watch how the veterans interact with the crowd there. The learning never ends.
  18. At least Murton is playing on a consistent basis now. Can't have your cake and eat it too. I hope Theriot gets a start soon. I understand how important it is to have Neifi in the lineup but.....
  19. The relationship doesn't matter. The ability to speak to one another does. I agree and if the pitcher doesn't want to listen it's the same thing IMO.
  20. Johjima. ;) He's a free agent after this offseason, he's 4 months older than Barrett, and his numbers last year roughly equate to .315/.373/.533 in MLB. I think I'm done with believing those rough equivalents. Iguchi's equivalent was .311/.358/.474 last year and he's hit .279/.347/.440 this year. Not perfect but not bad either. I understand they hold some merit, and that Japanese players should be considered, but I refuse to get on another bandwagon for these guys. I also have some serious questions per the language barrier. Perhaps if they signed Matsui and he came in from LF everytime the pitcher and catcher wanted to speak, it would be easier. But you told me earlier it was the performance that mattered...not pitcher/catcher relations.
  21. On the other hand, with his family issues behind him, he could also get back into shape and start throwing 95 again. In which case he'd be a heck of a pitcher. Very possible. If he hits 95 with consistancy would you still want to trade him and player X for Quentin?
  22. He does remind me of Quervo(sp)...Z's buddy that the Cubs traded. You mean Ruben Quevedo? But there are plenty of good and fat pitchers. Ray King. Bartolo Colon. CC Sabathia. David Wells (well, at least he used to be good). Even Zambrano wouldn't exactly be considered svelte. Yeah, that's the guy! I agree that baseball has had some overweight pitchers that have been quite successful. Still..the added weight doesn't help them remain as healthy as a more fit pitcher. It's possible the only way they feel comfortable is to be that size but I would prefer that the weight stay down.
  23. Johjima. ;) He's a free agent after this offseason, he's 4 months older than Barrett, and his numbers last year roughly equate to .315/.373/.533 in MLB. I think I'm done with believing those rough equivalents. What if he is a stud on defense and the Cubs can move Barrett to help with the OF? And of course...can hit as well as Barrett.

  25. Johjima. ;) He's a free agent after this offseason, he's 4 months older than Barrett, and his numbers last year roughly equate to .315/.373/.533 in MLB. Can he throw to second in 1.6? :D
