  1. I know of which you speak.
  2. How many more years can Manny keep hitting like this? How old is he I can't remember?
  3. Is that Jon dressed as Groucho Marx in purple? This ought to be a fun game...I hope Hart is ok.
  4. I'm very curious because I've got to know what direction Mr. Hendry is going with this.
  5. Syracuse still has a football team? I thought they stopped the program once McNabb left. :D Tell that to Mr. Freeney. :D
  6. This could be Syracuse's first 10 loss season in their history. This is just painful to watch.
  7. I have to wonder if the Cubs want a high maintinance player like Manny. He never showed up for the Latino All Time greats which I would think would be an honor. I love his bat but not his glove and I would like some kind of assurance that he's not going to pout about money if the Cubs do trade for him. I have a feeling he will want an extension and I'm not sure the Cubs should go in that direction.
  8. Not unless you want to give up Pie, Williams and Hill. And that might not even be enough. Who cares. We gave up Garland, Willis, Joe Carter and I'm sure many others. Who did we get in return? My point. If we are going to give up top prospects, at least get an All Star in return. Manny would be a huge boost to the offense. Prospects are just that, prospects. Use them to your advantage. Dont get me wrong, i would not make a habit of doing this, I dont want this to be like the Yankee farm system, but this is Manny. I want to win, and the only way to do that is to take some chances. I agree with your general sentiment, but like I said, I'm not even sure if that would be enough, and I'm not crazy about giving up the best positional prospect in the system. It's got to depend on how much money Boston puts in too. You have to remember that since Manny is demanding a trade I think it puts Boston behind the 8-ball a little.

That's what the Sox thought when they got George Bell.
  10. I think Hendry can put together a decent team that could make the playoffs if they had a competent manager. Of course he hired the manager in the first place so I will decide about Hendry after this off season.
  11. I have to wonder something. Hendry should know by now that Rusch is at his best as a regular starter. However, this makes me curious... Prior, Wood, Zambrano, Maddux, Hill, Williams, and Rusch can all start next season. I'm thinking that guys such as Pinto and Nolasco will also be ready for the rotation if called upon during some point next season. Yet, there's only a 5 man rotation. I'm thinking this deal just made Rich Hill and Jerome Williams much more expendable... Are you saying what I think you're saying because if you are I might agree. If Hendry does that I want an impact bat and not Soriano. Soriano is exactly the player Hendry coverts: toolsy, power, fast. Those 30 SB's must look awfully tempting to the scout in him. I hope I'm wrong. You're not wrong in any way, shape or form. I wonder what the Blue Jays are doing this off season.

Which is too bad, since I would rather hold on to Williams than keep Rusch.

  14. Will he get consistent work again? It's hard to say as it depends on who the Cubs aquire for the pitching staff. If they do get Burnett or Lowe probably not. I'm not counting on Wood being a starting pitcher until July at the earliest so maybe he'll be in his slot until Wood is ready. Then it becomes even more imperative to fix the offense. You got that right. Any word on Macias and Perez yet?
  15. I don't doubt for a second that the Cubs are going to a 12 man staff for '06.
  16. Unless the Cubs are moving Murton to SS in a double switch. That would prove the existence of the "Dusty Dice". And be hilarious. While they're at it they should move ARam to CF, Lee to C and Barrett to closer. Once Macias went to CF anything is possible. I'll take Glendon being signed as long as Macias, Perez and Burnitz are not.

  19. This signing doesn't bother me as I like Glendon. I thought he was pitching well until he got moved to the pen and didn't get consistant work.
  20. Whoever gets Reggie goes to the playoffs. Yeah, because he took the Pirates there 3 years ago. Exactly.
  21. I heard the Giants signed him so he could pitch to Bonds during the Home Run Derby at the All-Star game.
  22. Whoever gets Reggie goes to the playoffs.
  23. I can't wait for the next 10 year minor leauger to be banned for 10 days.
  24. It'll take much more than a tweak. The problems that have plagued this team, have plagued them for years and are not being exaggerated. The Cubs were 9th in runs scored this year. They were that low because of low OBP, and the low OBP was because they took few walks. It would take 1 or 2 bats to turn things around if those 1 or 2 were big impacts like Giles. But things will not be fixed with Furcal and a mediocre RF. They need impact out there. No matter what you do with the pitching staff, there's no way to guarantee a top 1 or 2 staff, with the fragile nature of that aspect of the game. You can't put all your emphasis on pitching and just think this offense will get fixed with tweaks. They've been tweaking it for 3 years and it just keeps getting worse. They were 23 runs out of 6th and 36 out of 5th. Replace Neifi/Patterson @ the top of the order w/ Furcal and replace Floyd w/ Burnitz, and they should be able to get into the top 6. Get some hits w/ runners on base for a change and they can be top 5. Weren't they near the bottom in hitting w/ RISP?? Burnitz needs to go!! If you call those two moves "tweaks" then no offense, but you are on crack. Actually saying somebody might be on crack is offensive IMO.
  25. I'd much rather have Murton out there; both defensively and with the bat. But if Sing could play OF and 1B wouldn't that be a cheap guy off the bench? I still want Murton to get most of the AB's in left don't get me wrong, I just would like to see Sing get a shot if he earns it during Spring Training.
