I thought that Crawford averaged the least amount of pitches per at bat? Sounds like the perfect Hendry/Baker type player.

Maybe it's Bruce trying to get Hendry to do something smart. I wish we were all a little more connected to the decision makers. Maybe we could pull a Karl Rove and start influencing the decisions. I have an autographed picture of George H. Bush....does that give me any pull? Darn, I didn't think so.

Yeah, but how many years will it take to undo the damage that Baker and Hendry could do? I don't think it would be that bad unless he signs a player like Damon to a huge multi year deal.

Any GM whose chief offensive concern is "timely hitting" has absolutely no buisiness making personnel decisions for a professional baseball club. (Competitive or otherwise.) Aside from the first two points (which aren't bad) that's a plan for mediocrity even in the best of circumstances. Maybe I'll buy Jim a Rolex and he can retire then. -

I still see Perez hitting #2 under too many scenerios. You're right about Dusty Proofing this team but what that means to me is trashing the whole organization player wise.

You're using common sense BbB and not Cub logic. It's amazing how Hendry can use up the cash for B or C players while the A's go to someone else. He also seems to be looking at the wrong players anyway so it doesn't really matter how he does it. IMO his only strength is doing trades while signing free agents is a HUGE weakness.

No...he's saying Neifi > Walker since he is going to move Walker. Walker can help find a long-term solution for another position. Am guesing that Hendry views Cedeno as the long term solution for 2b. Walker has the worse agent in baseball. Well...Maxwell Smart died so he can get a new one now.
