  1. Where did you hear that Cincy wanted Pie at the deadline?
  2. Hmmm...Gwynn in his prime or Ichiro in his, I'd take Ichiro. I think Seattle may be posturing a little saying that Ichiro is untouchable thus making teams bid higher than they originally wanted too.
  3. It beats the heck out of last years drama with Sammy doesn't it?
  4. IMO the closest to "perfect" players are: ARod, M.Cabrara, and Pujols. Great hitters and very good on defense. The rest have their goods and bads and you determine if that will help your team or not. Add David Wright to that list if you're going to put Miggy on there. I've seen Wright play quite often and I want to give him a couple of years before he makes my top 5. I love watching him play and he is going to be a major star no doubt about it but I think Miggy is a better hitter and that sways me a little more than the excellent defense Wright plays. I want Wright to make the basic plays better too and once he does then we'll see. Wright - 27HR 102RBI 17SB .306/.388/.523/.911 72BB 113K 575AB Miggy - 33HR 116RBI 1SB .323/.385/.561/.946 64BB 125K 613AB OK...one more year! I just want to see him do it one more year like Miggy did. Now if I added sex appeal Wright would be in the top 3 because the NY girls go absolutely nuts for the guy.
  5. It's like evaluating a QB by W/L record and pass attempts. Like Brady?

  7. I thought about him but the swing at every pitch thing just puts him a notch down for me.
  8. Yeah, you got me there. Even before the drugs....err workout. But i wouldn't consider him that now until he proves he can come back not testing positive opps...I mean from his knee injury.
  9. Also, you can mix and match the players as long as the Cubs end up with the finished product. I just do not want to see some 20/80/270/310 guy in right, especially if the Cubs have Pierre and Furcal.
  10. But he's not a finished product!!!!!!!!! Then wait until Baker puts his tarnish on him and then he'll be finished.

  12. I'll take the first option everyday and twice on Sundays. What if Lugo cost the Cubs Pie? I suppose that would depend on how well Tampa thinks Pie can pitch. Why on Earth would Tampa want Pie when they already have Baldelli, Gomes, Crawford, Huff, Gathright, Young and likely more guys who can play the outfield? Tampa would want pitching, and that is something we can certainly offer. I was just mentioning a top prospect and that Lugo isn't going to just cost money like Furcal is. I have no idea what TB may want but I'm sure with 2-4 teams asking about Lugo it would be pretty steep.
  13. I'll lock the thread then. :D I think the Cubs would have to be a notch or 2 better offer than the other teams because of that but I wouldn't rule it out.
  14. I'm trying to save Phillips...er Jim Hendrys job!
  15. I'll take the first option everyday and twice on Sundays. What if Lugo cost the Cubs Pie? I wouldn't trade Pie for Lugo. That said, I don't think getting Furcal means having to settle for Encarnacion either. I don't think the D-Rays would ask for Pie. Well, they might, but I think they'd ask for pitching first and possibly Cedeno. They already have several talented young outfielders...two that are under contract for quite some time. You're probably right but I'm sure if Lugo is desired by teams like Atlanta that the price is not going to be cheap.
  16. -Yankees don't really have any use for Walker, except as a utility player, and we all know he wouldn't like that. Pretty good deal for them though, but they really aren't interested in prospects. -Pierre for CPatt and Nolasco would probably get laughed at. -First one could happen, although it depends how high the Reds are on the three pitchers I think the Yanks would like a CF prospect and they could move Walker or keep him in case Cano struggles. Murton gives them a DH/LF guy. I agree the Fish may ask for more I agree so you could add Sing or the like to the deal but you also have to remember that if they are keeping Delgado they have to move some salary.
  17. Haha, now replace those names with three guys who don't get on base and you'll have the real Cubs outfield in 2006. True but let's play fantasy a little: Dunn for Hill, Williams, Mitre and Cedeno Pierre for CPatt and Nolasco Sheff for Pie, Murton, Walker and a top pitching prospect Add Furcal and call it a day for the everyday guys.
  18. I'm hoping this move makes Sheffield available. Dunn in left Pierre in center Sheff in right
  19. I'll take the first option everyday and twice on Sundays. What if Lugo cost the Cubs Pie?
  20. That's too bad because the Royals just called Hendry and asked if he would send Guzman for X. :D
  21. I like Williams too. I think he'll have a really nice, Kevin Millwood-esque career, maybe even a little better. If I were the Reds I would start with Williams and Hill and go from there.
  22. I think it would depend on who Tampa would want for Lugo. If there is a lot of interest he may command a Kings ransom.
  23. If the Cubs got Irchiro then I would want Bradley or Wells in CF.
  24. Who is the managing Guzman? Baker? 120 pitches is way too many at this stage IMO.
