  1. You really think that Baker would start Cedeno over Perez? Pierre AND Furcal would bounce Perez out of the top 2 spots at least. Who's the best hitter between Furcal and Pierre? Whoever that is I would rather have them hit first.
  2. I'd rather have Castillo and I hope that the Cubs are thinking along those lines because Pierre is overpayed IMO. The most I'd give the fish is Mitre and the Cubs pay all the cash.
  3. Seconded. There's absolutely no player in baseball I would trade Z for apart from maybe Pujols and we all know the Cards wouldn't make that deal. Cabrera is just about the only player I'd accept back for Z in a trade. You wouldn't take Castillo too? :D I take it no one would accept 2 very good players for Z then. What if the Mets ( sign Furcal) then trade Reyes and Cameron to the Cubs for Z and Hendry thinks that would be the answer for the leadoff situation. I'm not suggesting this but I could see it happening. It closes 2 holes while opening a huge hole.
  4. 3 players come to mind: Jason Bay, Miguel Cabrera and Adam Dunn. I don't think PGH or FLA would trade Bay or Cabrera, but I believe CIN would trade Dunn for Zambrano. Given the choice between impact hitters of a similar age, or Z, I'd keep Z. Dominant pitching is just too hard to come by. So you wouldn't trade Z for Dunn and Burnett?
  5. Who is the best OF player that is 27 or under in MLB? Now, would that team trade him for Z or Prior along with other players from both teams to make it work? Would it be worth it?
  6. Thanks! I think is to close to call. If Hendry can somehow maneuver a deal to get a multi-skilled player to take his place he might be let go. Hairston is an upgrade on Macias and does he same things so I wish Hendry would get a 3rd/1st base guy that could hit the ball out of the park once in awhile.
  7. Players like this are Jim Hendrys achillies heel. When is the non-tender date?
  8. Did Hendry ever say he wanted to stockpile good pitching? :D Do the Phillies have a 4th or 5th starter they can move to the Cubs? I see a Z and Hill for Abreu and that 4th or 5th guy. Padilla, maybe? I'd like to get Cole Hamels or Gavin Floyd back if possible. I think a number of interesting possibilites could happen. Maybe an exchange of CPatt and Michaels along with the major players.
  9. Just a thought of what Hendry may do. He does do well in trades and I'm hoping that he doesn't overpay for an OF playerwise.
  10. Did Hendry ever say he wanted to stockpile good pitching? :D Do the Phillies have a 4th or 5th starter they can move to the Cubs? I see a Z and Hill for Abreu and that 4th or 5th guy. I just cannot see us dealing our most dominant, healthiest pitcher for Abreu. It's not like Z is super expensive. He can catch the ball...look up gold glove winner. He can hit homers....look up HR champion in the All-Star game. He's a major dude according to Baker. Z's are a dime a dozen. Honestly, I think this trade could work out for both teams and if Hendry really thinks that Z is an injury waiting to happen and after what happened to Wood, I think this deal may have some legs.
  11. I'm pumped. I might get a shot at playing in this thing due to my heritage!!!!
  12. Did Hendry ever say he wanted to stockpile good pitching? :D Do the Phillies have a 4th or 5th starter they can move to the Cubs? I see a Z and Hill for Abreu and that 4th or 5th guy.
  13. I'll just randomly repeat the quote above in case it gets lost anywhere in this thread. Look at those numbers closely. Make the letters/numbers big enough so Hendry can see them no matter where he is.
  14. The less talent OF wise available makes for some big competition for what's available. I also wonder if Huff being moved is that much closer to reality.
  15. None. Why would a player destined to be a Philadelphia Philly have any say-so in a Cubs matter? You really think that Hoops don't you? It would be a huge deal if it happened. I definately would have to see the players involved before judging that one. Do you think Giles OF wise, is plan A or is Abreu? Or better yet, Hendry wants them both? :cyclopsani:
  16. Cuse, this isn't directed at you, but your comment inspired it. Why is it that the Cards hiding their cards is a savvy strategy, but when Hendry does not flat out announce he's going after our desired acquisitions he's an idiot without a plan? I like it when Hendry doesn't announce who he is after. For me the difference is that Jocketty knows when to cut a player loose while Hendry rewards the same type of player.
  17. How much say does Zambrano have in this? I think it's just the Cards trying to sneak under the radar.
  18. Why did you put Texas Techs schedule on there?
  19. I understand that this is an emotional topic but we need everyone to stick to the topic and not attack any posters or groups of posters. The players Patterson, Macias and Perez are lightning rods for this board and bring out a lot of emotion good and bad so please let's just try to stick to saying how you feel while throwing in facts and not slam a person that disagrees with your point of view. Thank you.
  20. As the starting SS or 2B. I haven't doubted this would happen since mid-season 2005.
  21. Ah yes, that lineup takes me back to the good old days.
  22. OK Dano! I'm not a big Washburn fan as I thik Raush gives about the same for less cost but I'd take those signings and trades.
  23. Hendry should have paid for his taxi to the airport.
  24. Thanks but now I'm confused. Hendry said that Perez and Cedeno would battle for 2nd base. Why is there no mention of Walker Bruce? I think you can guess the answer to that. They have every intention of trading Walker. That's what I expected but I was hoping it wasn't true I suppose. You must be incredibly professional to not ask Hendry if he's lost his mind. You're a better man than I am.
