    Even if Cedeno hits 353 in the spring it'll be against inferior competition and he won't start. Cedeno starts off hitting 353 in April and it's because pitchers have no book on him. Cedeno starts to slump and Baker puts him in and exclaims he knew what he was doing all along as Cedeno goes 3-25 and rides the bench for the rest of the year.

    No coach or manager has everyone on the same page year after year. Some players don't see eye to eye with a coach for some reason and they just don't click well together. It's Leo's job to keep working hard and doing what he has been doing to help make his pitchers as successful as possible.

    Yep...he's trying to make nice. He doesn't want to be viewed as a troublemaker, and the O's probably said "We'll trade you, but we need you to help us do it." There definately is more to this then what Miggy just said yesterday. IMO, no way can the O's get good enough even with a Prior or Z going to Baltimore. This Baltimore team stinks unlike Philly who could trade Abreu and has the potential to take the NL East.

    He's still available IMO. Now it just makes it seem not as desperate so the O's can try to get better players in a trade.

    Zambrano, Patterson and Cedeno for Tejada and Daniel Cabrera or one of the Orioles' pitching prospects. Then try to sign either Millwood, Washburn or Weaver for the rotation. My God trading Z and then signing Washburn would be like letting Maddux go and signing Juan Guzman. I've already lived that previous Hell.

    Thanks....I'd trade Z or Prior for Tejada, Mora and 2 of their top prospects, one pitcher and one postion player.

    Why not just get Vidro, Abreu and Tejada? =P~ I agree that the Cubs need that impact bat in right but I don't see why they can't improve the middle too.

    If Hill gets his change going I could easily see the Cubs using Rusch as trade bait in June or July and Hill coming up.

    I have to say iif the Cubs have Vidro hitting second I would rather have a Floyd type hitter in right batting 5th or 6th than Wilkerson. Pierre Vidro Lee Floyd/Abreu Ramirez Murton Barrett Perez/Cedeno If Huff was acquired I'd bat him behind Ramirez. Also the nice thing about getting Vidro is that the Cubs still have Cedeno or Perez to fill in at 2nd. I would rather just keep Walker but I just don't see Mr. Hendry keeping him around.

    This is definitely a positive, but it needs to be pointed out that the Venezuelan Winter League is typically between AA and AAA in talent level. And what does a .353 AVG convert to in the majors? If it's .280 plus, I'd take that from our #8 hitter. Any news on whether he's playing any 2nd base? You have Perez batting 7th? :D

    I was kidding Cuse but really the bottomline is the moves the cubs make. I assumed you were but after that interview with Baseball America (I think) Hughes didn't come off so well.

    Back to Plan B. What's going on with Lugo? Tejada's not going anywhere... If Tejada isn't going anywhere I would rather get an impact RF. Well, I agree but I still think Hendry has plans to shakeup the MI. I firmly believe that he's looking to acquire a SS/2B who can also hit second in the lineup. I certainly don't believe the nonsense about being comfortable with Cedeno, Perez, and Hairston (not when he initially wanted Furcal and Pierre to bat 1 and 2). Where there's smoke there's fire so I don't think that the Lugo talk was unfounded. I like Lugo but I just don't want to overpay for him. You're probably right about the 1/2 combo thing and it is nice to know Hendry doesn't want Perez near the top of the order again.

    About an hour ago, I was talking to a friend of mine who is a die hard Cards fan. He said, and I quote, "Matty Mo's biggest problem is he smokes too much weed". I thought for a moment that you were going to say the same thing. :lol: I take it baseball doesn't test for that? Well, in this case, it's the pot calling the kettle black. Not that I'm proud to admit it, but my buddy is almost as reliable as a lab when it comes to identifying users. I'm sure there have been plenty of times he's been wrong, but it really is a sick sixth sense with him. So, I'm guessing baseball doesn't test for it. If they did, according to him, most of the Cardinals team would be suspended right now. \ Maybe it's for medicinal purposes.

    I agree and I think Dusty is a very tough read for many writers when it comes to his antidotes and explanations. I wish we had the antidote for Dusty-poisoning. Do you really think the Cubs will hire a manager with no experience? I am afraid to say Fredi's availability may be a moot point. The Cubs interviewed Macha (no manager experience) from Oakland when they had an opening so I don't see why they wouldn't do so again. I kind of feel that Hendry was overwhelmed when Baker became free and fell in love with the idea of Baker being the manager. Hey, I was pretty excited about it at the time too. Sure, they'll interview him. They won't hire him. Macha is not a very good manager anyway from what I can tell. Most A's fans I know don't like him at all. I know our friend Tree is a big fan of his. :D My opinion of hiring Baker is that Hendry just started to be a GM and wanted a veteran proven winner to manage the Cubs. Now, I would think he is more secure at being a GM and would pick the best man available for the job. I may be wrong but that's how I feel.

    Manny in CF would be fun to watch. I still see Edmonds going to Boston and possibly the Yanks if they find a way to scrap up some players to make it work.
