  1. I'd like to make a big trade with Arizona with just the Cubs or a 3 way trade. I think they have a lot of answers for that right field problem. What's on your radar from AZ? I like Green & his .832 ops, and that he's a left-handed bat. AZ's a hitter's park correct?? Moving to the Central from the NL West could give Green's slugging a boost. As two have said Chad Tracy or the other young guy whose name escapes me. I wouldn't mind Williams, Harvey and Cpatt deal for Tracy and Vasquez.
  2. I think the Steelers win this one for Bud Carson 10-3.
  3. What do you think we could get for him? Make a package that includes Shawn Green and Javier Vasguez? We'd of course have to give them more than Patterson. Maybe not if the Cubs take on those contracts. I'd rather have Vasquez and one of those OF young hitters and then sign Rondell White or trade for Bradley and call it an off season.

  5. If he were a real gamer like david eckstein, he would have played through it. :| If El Caballo rammed into Eckstein that hard, we would have been reading an obituary, not about a trip to the DL. the media also would have called it one of the dirties plays they had ever seen, instead of a 'good hard slide.' I'm still pissed that no Cubs pitcher ever put one between his numbers for that. but I'm probably more pissed that the Cubs were constantly trailing the Brewers, thus never giving a good opportunity to put one between his numbers. This also might tell you how Walkers teammates feel about him.
  6. A very nice trading partner indeed that Arizona team.
  7. The concept of "not blocking Murton" is one I want to avoid. If you put Murton out there and he flops, you're looking at 400+ John Mabry plate appearances. Can we please be a deep team? Maybe just try it once? Join. Except Huff isn't exactly atop my wish list. If BWilk is in the fold, I'm still going after Bradley, Floyd, Mench, maybe RonDL before Huff. Of course, if taking Huff makes it easier to get Lugo.... Yep, sometimes you have to rob Peter to pay Paul. I still feel comfortable that there are some decent choices still out there.
  8. I dont see top 10 for us until we find a legit RF Johnny Dangerously went legit should the Cubs go after him? :D
  9. So Tejada will make the Cubs 46 games better? And getting rid of Macias while benching Perez. :sunny:
  10. Who would you rather have....Taveras or Pierre?
  11. Maybe the Cubs can give them Prior and Z? Somebody tell the Rangers they already had Christmas when they traded with the Nats.
  12. But if Hendry is heckbent on trading Walker Vidro would be a decent choice if: -Vidro is healthy -The Nats picked up some cash Will MLB ownership do that? I doubt it. Then it wouldn't take much to get him...maybe CPatt?

  14. That's what I'm thinking too. A solid platoon in right would also cover the Cubs in case one of the OF's gets hurt or struggles.
  15. Very possible. IMO since the Cubs have their leadoff hitter I like the possibilites of the things Tejada would bring. His attitude (from what I hear), durability, being a SS that can hit with power and average, and a decent fielder. Now, I don't know about his base running skills but to have a SS with those qualities are worth looking into IMO and it also allows the Cubs to have a nice platoon in RF. The Cubs are not guaranteed prduction from Murton as much as I would like to think they are and having a quality 4th OF that could slide into his spot would be a nice plus. (I know Duty would probably screw this up). He's also cheap salary wise compared to the prices SS's are now getting. Now again back to your question, I think that ARod and Miggy are the only impact SS's I would trade a lot for. He's not a Cabrera or Pujols type hitter that makes hitting look effortless but I place a lot of importance on the SS position and I think having a SS that can hit 30/300/350 is worth selling the farm for. How many SS's have averaged that in the past 30 years? I do admit I am also worried about this steroid thing with Raffy. I'm paranoid about that type of stuff to a fault and this worries me this off season more than any other one because of the cloud it has on players that had their numbers drop in 2005.
  16. And Bradley!!!! Now that would be a fun team to watch for the press.
  17. Hello Mcflie....he has said this over and over again, why would the Nats think otherwise?
  18. If Walker played a whole bunch of games he would be the best player in the world some have claimed. I've tried to compile a list of players that are almost as good so please vote on one that might compare to the legend that is Todd Walker.
  19. The O's owner is pretty tricky so I'd watch out for the bait and switch...the Cubs might just end up with Gibbons and a Tejada baseball card.
  20. I'd love to see them bring Holla back for that, if only we had a manager with a clue that would use him as the 4th OF/1st bat off of the bench like he's best suited for. Not me. The Cubs already have Mabry and that's as close to Holla as I want to be.
  21. That does throw a wrench into it doesn't it? I'm glad the Yankees don't have a lot left at the lower levels so this might keep them out of it since both Wilkerson and Bradley can play CF..

  23. I think that's just speculation by the writer. No way the Cubs would want Nix. I'm sure you're right Willi....it just doesn't make any sense. I wonder what pitchers the Rangers want from the Cubs for Wilkerson?
