  1. Probably. Now Hendry can over pay for Huff. Yuck. I really am against having Huff in RF now that Pierre is in CF. It was possibly a tolerable gamble if there was above average production in CF. Not now. Maybe now Felix is on the table in a deal for one of the Big 3 corner OF's we've all talked about. Yeah....Huff. :D The only fit that makes is Abreu since he is the only one of the three (Manny + Dunn) that plays right.
  2. How does Pinto, Nolassco and Mitre compare to what the Mets and Boston gave up for better players?
  3. Probably. Now Hendry can over pay for Huff.
  4. How is this a fair trade for both sides? Aside from foot speed, what does he bring to the team that Todd Walker does not? I love the Cubs. I cannot stand Jim Hendry. Best case scenario he performs to career norms. But then what do the Cubs do when Pie is ready? I was fearfull this would happen. I really really hope I'm worng. It's not that bad. Even if Pierre is a one year rental, Pinto and Nolasco weren't likely to crack to rotation soon, and Pierre keeps Felix in the system for another year, which IMHO is worth it on it's own. If Pie continues to improve, he's ready for 2007, then Pierre walks and we get a type A draft pick, plus a more polished Pie. That is if the Cubs offer arbitration. My issue is that this team had to be Dusty proofed and possibly Hendry proofed for all I know. Oh well. What's done is done and now I hope Hendry gets an impact bat for right. Is it possible the Pie is now available?
  5. I'm uncomfortable with this trade. I think Hendry paid a little too much for a player that may be a one year rental. If the Cubs do sign Pierre what do they do with Pie?
  6. I remember you guys complaining about the score last year when they did this type of thing. This is frustrating.
  7. Yes, yes, I do believe that putting Abreu and Cabrera in the same outfield would, in fact, solidify it. You could put me in center with that OF! I wonder if Miggy wants to go to a place where he can play 3rd?
  8. What would the Fish take for Miggy if they don't want any players with a high price?
  9. I prefer to wait until I see the opening day roster before I comment on Hendry....at least which direction I'll go. I'm positive that I will lean one way or another on that day and he has until then to prove to me that he can put together a winning team. Hendry has many strikes against him with the biggest being the hiring of Baker and he has many plusses like Lee and Ramirez. So until then I'll complain about the re-signing of Perez possibly Macias and applaud any good trade or signing.
  10. "It's gold Jerry...it's gold!"
  11. Tejada makes less than Furcal. Unbelievable. But what would Tejada make if he was an FA today? IMO...15+.
  12. They are going to join a softball league soon and are loading up.
  13. I agree. I think the Cubs could make this 3 way trade and get Wilkerson in another 3 way if Hendry does it right.
  14. I agree with all that, I'm just saying they would still have holes to fill. You'd still need to make a move for a potentially solid LF, not settle for the PrestJuan Jonesnitz group. I hear ya on the Jones/Wilson thing. I think there are some very good combinations of OF's available for Hendry to get and IMO his job depends on it.
  15. that trade just moves the hole in the of from right to left. not very productive imo. LF isn't that covered with Murton. He is a pretty much unproven rookie. And Abreu is one of the top 15 players in the league. You create a hole in LF, but overall the team is much better in the OF. But it's still a hole nonetheless, and would have to be filled, along with the hole in CF. I think in a worse case scenerio the Cubs have Hairston/Patterson in CF to fall back on and Lofton is still available. If Abreu is in right the Cubs can get a Kearns/Nixon leftfield and not worry about Dusty and his vet fetish.
  16. I'd agree with that if the Cubs got a huge upgrade in right and kept Walker.
  17. I think it's kind of fun hearing what the Cub beat reporters have to say. I'm starved for information on the Winter Meetings and enjoy hearing the rumors.
  18. that trade just moves the hole in the of from right to left. not very productive imo. I think that Leftfield is easier to fill than Rightfield.
  19. Personally I could care less what some writer thinks especially at this stage. I'd rather hear the opinions of the posters on here.
  20. At the worst Freel. I think it's overpaying too.
  21. Does anyone know about the Wilkersons and Lugos baserunning skills?
  22. I've always liked Loretta and dispised Wells. Didn't SD have a chance to sign Wells for less when he was a free agent last off season?
