  1. I wouldn't mind Drew in CF and if the Cubs also got Lugo that would answer the leadoff question as well. If the Cubs have these guys I wouldn't mind a decent platoon in right.
  2. But unlike Sosa, Hendry should have no trouble dealing Walker. Low salary + excellent production. Wait, we could use some of that...... I'll never understand the logic of wanting to move Walker and sometimes I wonder if there isn't something else that bugs the Cubs about Walker that doesn't have to do with ability to play baseball.
  3. Perez will play in at least 150 games if he is healthy with Baker as the manager. I would like to see the Cubs aquire Lugo and put Cedeno at second while batting Lugo in the leadoff spot. Here's a team I think the Cubs might assemble and Dustys lineup: Lugo SS Perez 2B Lee 1B Huff RF ARam 3B Wilson CF Murton LF Barrett C
  4. And a lot of people thought Bradley could be had for less.
  5. NUN, have you ever considered the possibility that most of these athletes come from fairly well-to-do families? Also, what of parents who might buy their children cars as a congratulations gift or as a joke thanks for not making them pay for their college? I have also heard of families taking out loans based on the guaranteed future wealth of their child. I believe that is how Lebron got his hummer. Also worth noting that I read a ESPN article on Leinart saying he pretty much lived in a dump with 3 roommates, and drove some old POS car. I was about a year ago though, so it may have changed. I like Leinart (that hurt to say). Leinart drove a POS car!?!? Wow, his folks live in a $5 million house in the OC. I thought that a 5 million dollar house in the OC only had 2 bedrooms and a bath?
  6. Baker and Perez are on Bakers boat right now laughing as we speak.
  7. Out of curousity, doesn't Perez hit better from the right side? It's a good thing Baker seems to not like Hairston that much so that at least gives Cedeno a chance to play. I see Perez getting in at least 155 games.
  8. And then win the World Series in 2009.
  9. I say the Cubs will get: Tejada, Abreu and Bradley....then I wake up and see Murton/Mabry, Pierre and Burnitz in the of instead.
  10. I'd be thrilled. I really don't understand why the Cubs would pay too much for Pierre when Pie will be ready in 2007. I just don't see a Murton, Pie and Pierre Cub OF in 2007.
  11. The difference is that Baltimore has shown no signs of going into full blown rebuilding mode. They have a new GM and they let Ryan go. I would like to see the Cubs be proactive and help get the O's in that mode by making a nice offer for Tejada before other teams can even get involved. I'd like to see that too, but do you really think hendry would think of that? Then again, Tejada CAN catch the ball...... Add to that he stays healthy unlike what the Cubs had last year. Also, if the O's have a bad contract maybe the Cubs can take that on too.

  13. Sure, but there's no way that would get it done. I don't think Guzman has any value any more. Perhaps Pinto, but I'm guessing Baltimore would want Z and one of Pie or Hil plus Cedeno. Would you pull the trigger on that deal? What did Florida get for Beckett? How about Delgado? I think that the Cubs have the right package of young players to satisfy the O's.
  14. And since both Pierre and Walker are not really good defensive players it makes me want Walker to stay even more unless Hendry can deal for Pierre using little of the prospect resources and moves Walker and gets some bang for the buck. Wishful thinking indeed.
  15. I hope it is for the Cubs. This used to be such a great week before free agency.
  16. I would and I think that Baltimore might too. Maybe they will see how Florida reloads and understand that may be a way to catch the Yanks and Boston.
  17. I love the winter but I know many dispise it around here (Syracuse) and on this board. What do you think about it?
  18. I think that team is in a huge mess right now and IMO Tejada would want to get out. I agree he is their cornerstone but they need a lot of help and he could bring in a lot. Pie, Cedeno, Hill, Guzman would be a very nice start to get a good young team started. Tejada is signed through 2009. It doesn't matter if he wants to get out or not. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have Tejada, but it's not realistically in the cards. Even in a fantasy baseball scenario, he costs us Z or Prior, which I find unacceptable. He's not going to be had for Pie and some other prospects. I know that I'm probably alone in this but I would trade Prior for Tejada.
  19. Any poll that has Oregon as a top-5 team has to be biased or wrong in some form or fashion. Their 10-1 record is no more impressive to me than West Virginia's 10-1 record and the Mountaineers are nowhere near top-5. I'm looking forward to seeing the Big East play in the bowls. WV playing the SEC champ and Louisville playing the team in the ACC championship game ought to show how good we are.
  20. I'd really enjoy these teams being matched up in a playoff though.
  21. I came into this offseason with a great fear that would happen. It seems to be getting a little more likely with each passing day. Now add in a fear of Mabry in LF. :pukel: Wow Cacique...what a horrible 1000th post!

  23. He's young and cheap so I don't know if they would deal him.
  24. That's what made me start thinking of him. I'm curious on what direction the O's are going to go. Boston and NY are going to upgrade as is Toronto. I think this would be a way for the O's to beef up and Pie would be a nice start.
