    I'm really hoping Murton showed enough to Dusty in his 150 AB's to warranty a much longer leash than previous rookie position players. I hope so too USS.... I really do. Remember that Murton was new and the pitchers haven't had a chance to figure him out yet like they will in 2006. It is the word according to Dusty.

    This is what kind of signing/recruiting Baker is good for....vets past their prime. They know they'll get a shot at starting and at the very least a lot more playing time then they deserve.

    Randel "I never saw a pitch I didn't like" Simon. Man I loved him. He would swing at anything...and make contact. He was a guy Hendry traded for and he was a decent pinch hitter. I wish Hendry could figure out how to get a quality bench guy via the free agent route.

    It just seems to me that Hendry is always a day late and pays too much for past production. Who was the last Cub off the bench that was an effective sub/pinch hitter?

    I've been watching Cedeno fairly closely in Venezuela and I believe he has played SS exclusively. Well in that case, I can't wait to see Neifi as the everyday 2B next year. :puker: IMO Perez was re-signed to be a starter and will cover the position that the Cubs don't aquire a starter for.

    What's kind of funny is that the Bears are never on TV around here so people in this area have no real clue on how good they are unless they have payed for one of those NFL packages or go to a bar that has a Bear following.

    Money, it is all about money. IMO Oregon will be out before OSU. Sadly I don't even think that Oregon is in the picture.

    Are you saying that Greenburg can't hit or you don't want to offend me? :D I think the kid can be a 275/350 hitter that can play 2 OF postions and pinch run. Granted he has no pop but if he is used correctly I think he could be a 4/5 OF guy out there.

    I remember that. Wasn't is because they wanted to make room for Delino F. DeShields? I thought it was to bring up a pitcher that wasn't on the 40 man so he could get lit up for 3 innings.

    Preston Wilson = bad. Please no. I'd take Wilson if Hendry get Arebu or Giles for right. What's more likely is what some had hypothesized all along: That a Wilson signing would be coupled with a Peirre trade and they'd call it an offseason. Posters have been banned for suggesting less, I'd watch it if I were you. :x I see Wilson as no value at all if he is playing a corner OF. I wouldn't mind him being a 7th or 8th hitter in CF as long as the Cubs have decent 1/2 hitters.

    The Greenburg situation reminds me of the Mathews Jr. debacle. This move really bugs me because I think Greenburg will be a serviceable 4th OF, especially for this team.

    I hope Hendry moves something to get an impact bat or 2 in the OF. I just have this awful feeling he is going to overpay in prospects for Pierre and if he was to overpay prospects for a player I want it to be for an Arebu type player.

    Wouldn't that be sweet. I just have a funny feeling that Hendry and Dusty see eye to eye on too many things for this dream to come true.

    I think that West Virginia and Louisville are just as good as any of the one or 2 loss teams. If Colorado and/or Florida St win will that knock ND out of the BCS? I mean who do they pick Texas or ND or do they drop Ohio State? I think that something has to be done about these Conference Playoff games. At least the team with the best conference record goes in the BE but to have these 4 loss teams go in automatically is a joke. What would be worse IMO is if college football had a playoff the fact that Florida St or Colorado would be one of the 8 or 16 teams would just be wrong.

    He also doesn't have a big long-term contract or require you to take on Mike Lowell. Better player doesn't necessarily mean that he will require more in a trade. There are plenty of other factors that go into a player's "worth". It also seems to me that teams don't give up elite prospects for a guy who will be a free agent after the season. BTW, Lowell isn't a bum, and I'd look for a big year in Fenway for him. I agree on the Lowell part. Me too. 25/90/280

    Ooops. Maybe the Cubs will trade the 7th rated Pinto instead of the 2nd rated one for Pierre.

    I don't know but who does Oakland have to play second base? Mark Ellis who happened to put up a 316/384/477 line last year. Well shoots that deal down! Isn't he arby eligible? I wonder what Oakland might want for him? I can't imagine the Cubs going for this guy when they already have Perez and possibly Furcal unless the Cubs don't sign Furcal. Perez is going to start either at SS or 2B. Ellis would be an interesting choice for the leadoff slot but since Hendry has to have some guy that can run the 40 in 4.2 in that slot I doubt he would go for it. That would be something the Cubs could look into plus the possible additon of Zito in that trade. Kotsay just signed a long term deal didn't he? I wonder if Beane would still trade him because he seems like a player Hendry would like.

    What do you mean he beat up his pregnant wife? Do you have the info for this? I know a guy that was an idiot but this is what happened when he got charged with a felony. He was arguing with his wife wife and threw an empty beer can at her. She picked up the kid to protect herself from getting hit, the can hit the kid and he got charged and convicted for a felony. After this, I want to know what happened when someone is accused of or even convicted of a crime. There are just too many rumors out there that snowball into something bigger for some strange reason.
