  1. STILL? Steve Phillips was being talked to on SportsCenter about various baseball issues, one was "Report: Cubs offer Schmidt 3/$45" What worries me is I can't remember a time when Steve Phillips was right.
  2. Alan Page is going to sack Douglas at least 4 times on Sunday.
  3. Warmer climate? Not if it's Seattle. I think his family is there.
  4. Link. That's a lot of money to ignore if it's true. He must be getting close to or over 13 from those 2 teams then. I hope he goes to Seattle out of the 2.
  5. Thanks everyone and I forgot O'Malley! I don't know why I keep forgetting about Marmol, maybe it's because he's going to be traded for (among others) for Westbrook.
  6. If Sammy were to take me to a Cub weekend series, buy me dinner in any restaurant I want in Chicago for all 3 nights and then fly my family to Italy/Europe on an all expenses paid vacation for a month, I'd love him.
  7. Specific Big East teams? That can't be decided yet-it will depend on which one and how many Big East teams make the BCS and if ND makes the BCS. Both of those decisions will affect the order of the Big East bowl games all the way down. That's right....I had a brain lapse here and thought the season was over, well it is for my team. Thanks.
  8. I dare to dream: Z, Schmidt, Hill, and then who....Mateo, Marshall, Prior, Miller and who else, there was another rookie that begam with a M too but I don't recall his name. Jeeze, with all these M's it's like the Crash Test Dummies. MMMMMMMMMMM.......
  9. I wonder if he will still be able to throw as hard as before? My money is on him dropping 2 to 5 MPH's off his fastball. All depends on the shoulder, physically there wasn't much potential of velocity growth given how perfect he was physically. If he can get feel of his breaking pitch(es) again, he might end up being a similar version to the good Matt Morris (except diff. breaks on the curve). He has long ways to go before we see anything like we did in '03. Ability to pitch a full season, 65-70 FB, 65-70 curve, and 70 command. I'm just worried since he had a tie to House that steroids were involved and it wasn't just his shoulder. I really hope I'm wrong.
  10. Well it's about time this game was played! I really miss the option game battle they used to have.
  11. That sucks. I remember when our local stations were up in the air with the cable company.
  12. 3 cheers for Rice and their first bowl game in 40 something years!!! Does anyone know where and who the Big East teams are playing?
  13. You out rebounded us and had to come from behind but couldn't quite make it over the hump. Willard was pretty pleased that Syracuse would play him as they have had a tough time getting the "big" schools to play them since they've done pretty well in the NCAA's. I think you guys will do quite well. Yeah, we haven't gotten many games against the big conferences recently. Usually BC, because it's a rivalry (or at least was a rivalry, once upon a time). This year we have only two real tough non-conference games, Syracuse and Duke, and a few other competitive ones. I'm sure it was a good experience for the team. HC has rebounded all of their opponents this year, which was surprising to me. I read Willard's website, and one of the things he was really harsh about was the team's softness early in the year. He also wrote this the other day, which I thought was kind of neat: I've always liked Ralph since he was here in the 80's and that was pretty nice of him to say that. You have to beat Duke and build up that resume so if you lose to Bucknell or some other team you can have that on other bubble teams.

  16. If Wade Boggs can make it Gwynn definately should make it.
  17. It's not just the BCS bowls. Mizzou has a shot at the Alamo Bowl, but may get passed over for Texas Tech or Kansas State, two teams that Mizzou trounced and have the same conference record as, because they travel better and give the bowl more $$$. You're right. Syracuse sucks when it comes to traveling and we always lost out to VTech or WV even if we had a better record. Another thing is the games ar always in the south or west and it's easier for those teams to bring fans that are closer to the destination.
  18. The thing I don't like about the BCS Bowls is that they are going to go after big name schools and teams that are just as good will be left out thus giving the bigger schools more publicity and keeping the status quo.
  19. That's an interesting scenario, but the Red Sox would either need a lot of young cheap talent or they would need a team to pitch in a large portion of the 51 million they used to post him. Could the Dodgers trade Penny and a young OF guy for him? Why would the Dodgers Trade Brad Penny? Brad Penny just dominated hitter's in the first half of the season. He would cost less than Matsuzaka will also. I thought I read they wanted to move him.
  20. Dave Parker was a heck of a player for 3 or 4 years and I'm not sure there were many better players at the time. It's too bad he couldn't sustain it. I hope Blyleven gets in.
  21. Actually, I think I read somewhere that the rules have changed since Irabu, and they cannot trade him. And seriously Boras, 15 million? Get real dude, he's not a FA. If they sign him can they trade him or is he like a free agent and can't be moved until June 15th?
  22. Mike and Mike are wave runners. Cowherd was dumping on Rex too. I've never been a fan of Grossman's but he isn't as bad as a lot of the "experts" say but he not as good either. I think he has to learn to make better decisions like any young QB.

  24. Didn't Gottlieb get thrown out of school for stealing? I don't like this guy as he sounds like a little kid with a huge chip on his shoulder.
