  1. I take it nobody picked him yet?
  2. As long as he's not 5'7" and 140 pounds dripping wet I'll go along with what the boys want the Cubbies to pick. Selfishly, I hope they pick a kid from around here.
  3. Jeeze....Schilling at least had pretty good control, I can't imagine how many pitches Johnson threw that year.
  4. Anyone you want the Cubs to pick up Tiger?
  5. I looked at it as he wanted the kids to pay special attention and learn from it but I could see how you'd feel that way due to his arrogance. As others have said, Stone with Harry and Brenly with Kasper each have their plus and minuses but I enjoyed both pairs. I wonder how Bob would have done with Harry and Stoney with Kasper though.
  6. I don't know, getting the final out as a closer would be pretty cool and go down in history.
  7. Why did the youngsters quote bug you?
  8. That's a possibility but I wonder if he'll look at Smoltz and say, no thank you.
  9. The draft thread started me thinking of him and I was wondering how he is doing and what positions he is playing this year. Thanks.
  10. I have to go return my cans and bottles that are in my garage and see if I can put together a bid. Does anyone know if Cuban still has a chance or is he already out due to the good ole boys?
  11. I love Phil's comment about a broken shorts drawstring takes longer to fix than Pierce's knee did to heal. Phil played with Willis Reed and I'll bet it bugged the heck out of him watching Pierce do this.
  12. Who was the guy who got the puck going 100 mph directly in the face from Pitt? He comes back and no mention, Paul Pierce gets a little cramp rolls around like a baby and he's a tough guy?
  13. A buddy of mine has a hairpiece that looks like Gordon Beckham's hair.
  14. Wouldn't it be awesome if Lou actually did that? That would require Marquis actually having any.
  15. Business as usual in Iowa City. pretty much Well, they gone as fur as they can go.
  16. The Cubs described him as a first round talent in the original article. That's wonderful. If they can continue winning and get quailty kids for the far east and down south as well they can continue to build their farm system.
  17. He shot it at 38% from college three. (36 out of 95). I was impressed with his outside shot the times I saw him play. Thanks snood. I wouldn't be surprised if he is going to be a better pro than college player. He looked pretty quick with the ball which would be a tough matchup with guys with poor footwork and he could shoot and rebound over smaller guys due to his arm span. I think he'll be a tough matchup.
  18. They were my second favorite when I was a kid until the Blue Jays hooked up with Syracuse for their AAA team.
  19. High school coaches are fun people. BOMBARDMENT..BOMBARDMENT...BOMBARDMENT! Yeah, a gym teacher but they are often HS coaches as well.
  20. We all have our moments when we just want to hide and this young man did his when a lot of people were watching. What I would do is either do something fun at the next practice and get the kids to form together as a group. Or, do something that this young man could succeed in at the next practice, without him knowing you're doing this on purpose. Some kids do not want to be there but their parents have made them play for one reason or another and this might be the case for this guy. You've had him for a few games now, have you got a read on him and try to find out what makes him tick, what intrests he has that you might tie in to playing baseball and a pressure situation. What I like to do with my kids, young and old, is to enjoy a close game (which I truely love!) and make it even more fun. A lot of times a kid sees all the pressure and reacts to it in a negative way. I think this has been a nice life lesson for you as well Mr. Biittner!
  21. 4 in 11 years...I love it! Syracuse wins the Mens Lacrosse, the Wings win the Cup, so I hope Championships come in 3's! Man, hockey is the only sport that makes me somewhat nervous. Things can happen so quickly and that last slide of the puck through the crease was pure torture until it slid away.
