  1. Would he be able to handle righties better than Fontenot? Also, Could Veal move up to be a loogy?
  2. Maybe, but I don't think it hurts to get in touch with him. Also, I'm not as confident as some of you that it'll only be six weeks. He might be off the DL in six weeks, but I think that injury is going to linger and affect his bat. This isn't a wrist injury -- it's the hand, and very similar to Utley's last year. For further insight, here's what Will Carroll had to say on the injury: What constitutes Cub fans criticizing any certain player? We all did this? 5% did? 35%? What? I hate statements like that.
  3. But, now with Soriano out that will force Lee to play more..or more likely Lou won't sit him again. I think the whole team will have to pick it up a notch to cover this loss, offensively and pitching wise.
  4. He's a free agent after the year and depending on what direction the Indians want to go, this is an interesting idea. Would they get 2 top picks if he goes free agent? If so, unless they think the Cubs have something that can either help them next year or the year after I doubt that the Cubs could top that. Now, if the Cubs sent Hill, Gallagher, Pie and a couple of more top minor guys and couldn't resign CC they would get those top picks but those guys wouldn't help the Cubs for a couple of years and leave a big hole in the rotation. I just have a problem with CC's weight and possible health problems.
  5. Well...I hope whoever gets called up seizes the opportunity and plays well enough to make it a tough decision when Soriano comes off the DL. What did Johnson hit when Soriano was out?
  6. M&M are going to sing the 7th inning stretch on June 25th and they looked like little kids and excited as heck. They also said that Peroria and Sandberg are going to be at Wrigley on July 29th to play a game.
  7. All you ever write about is the Vols! Fulmer stinks and can't win with all that talent! Another Vol was arrested last night! How many Vols can fit into a VW bug? I don't just talk about the Vols! Sometimes I talk about how much the Big East owns college football. :D Well that certainly is nice of you! It sounds like you love your job, that's wonderful.
  8. All you ever write about is the Vols! Fulmer stinks and can't win with all that talent! Another Vol was arrested last night! How many Vols can fit into a VW bug?
  9. Selig just said on ESPN that no Cuban can be involved with the Cubs.
  10. This always happens to child stars when they grow up, they get wild.
  11. Hamilton seems to be a LF playing CF according to those numbers.
  12. It's 2008 and with hover crafts and cars getting 200 MPG you'd think they'd have found this earlier with all the technology we have. Honestly, this must have been so hidden that a bunch of MRI's couldn't see it and the only way they could have was during a surgery. This makes me dislike Giles even more.
  13. Whew...I thought he was going to have Marquis pitch an extra time too, good to know he's getting bumped as well. I think this will be a good thing for Sean.
  14. He's only the 25th best prospect from Kansas? What kind of numbers did the other 24 put up? I agree with the other two posters, that's pretty suspicious that a high school pitcher who can throw 96 and no one can even put the ball in play against him is the 25th best prospect out of a "hotbed" like Kansas. If you can pitch it doesn't matter if you're that short, you'll be drafted high enough. Shane Nance went in the 10th or 11th round and he was like 5'6. I know a guy when I was 20 or so I met at a Community College that was 5'7" and he could hit 92. I was young and foolish and caught him without a mask and the ball went right through the webbing of the catchers mitt I borrowed, just missed my face by inches.
  15. I think it's because MLB is now using NBA refs instead of umps, the game on Saturday proved this.
  16. By the way guys, thanks for posting the info on the players...I enjoy reading!
  17. Is that the one where you have to be able to draw a rabbit?
  18. If he could do that all the time with an occasional at the head, I can't imagine the K numbers he would have had. probably something ridiculous like a 10.76 k/9 ratio for his career. I know, he's been amazing. I suppose the "I don't know if this thing is going to hit me or be a slider" was pretty effective, obviously, as it is. That is the career record for K per 9, correct?
  19. The corners can stay back in bunt coverage with this guy!
  20. According to ESPN, a HS coach has 10 3 way phone calls by Sampson, Sampson says they weren't intentional.
  21. Wings parade on ESPNews. It reminds of when my favorite defensive player wow...it began with a K and he was Russian, got hurt in a limo and has been paralyzed ever since.
  22. If he could do that all the time with an occasional at the head, I can't imagine the K numbers he would have had.
  23. The Brewers picked him in the sandwich round. Thanks CCP. I see the Backs drafted Stink junior. Cool.
