  1. I'd deal Z only if it makes the Cubs better and IMO ARod at SS or Miggy Cabrera at RF would do that. AROD (if he can play SS) or Cabrera yes, Miggy not so sure. I wouldn't do a Tejada for Z unless the O's gave the Cubs another good starter too which I doubt would happen.

  3. The Cubs organization has shown too much of a reliance on the strikeout in recent years, even with its veterans. With someone of Z's build there doesn't appear to be much negative effect, but it has contributed to Wood taxing his arm. It's good to hear Hill understand that there's a difference between (gross simplification) getting a groundout on the second pitch and a strikeout on the fifth. I think it would behoove Prior to get his going as well. The funny thing with a change up is that it really doesn't decrease your K total that much, if at all. I just like having batters off balance.
  4. Ahem...ARod...ahem... That'd work too, as long as ARod can still play SS. That's the only way I'd want him. If you could look into the future and see how Prior, Miller and Wood would do along with Guzman it would be quite a move for the Cubs. The money the Cubs would spend on Z would be about the same as the ARod deal too, heck, maybe less.
  5. Interesting stat I just heard on M&M: Manning is the first QB to ever win a Super Bowl throwing twice as many (or more) interceptions than TD's 7/3.
  6. Ahem...ARod...ahem...
  7. We don't deserve to go to the NCAA's unless Boeheim makes some changes because this team is just above average right now. Ever since Roberts hurt his knee it's been a free fall downward. Add to that Watkins never being consistant and most of the time below average and Harris not really having a role and this team is a mess. Oh, plus Wright is not a good fit at point guard for this team and you have a bunch of square pegs trying to fit into circles.
  8. It's great to hear, from a pitcher who relied so heavily on striking out batters in the minors, that there's value to saving pitches. He just figured this out? Did Greg Maddux need to tell him this? yeah, what a loser. i wish he were dead. Thank you for that valuable comment. Did I strike a nerve? Or were you just trying to fulfill your 8 post-a-day quota? I think he struck a nerve. you sounded mad in your post. Ask yourself, are you HONESTY mad at rich hill? Because you sounded mad. It was just silly sarcasm, no need to go crazy. :D Why would I be mad at Rich Hill? I was just pointing out a quote that made him seem dumb. I think a lot of young pitchers don't realize that fewer pitches is the way to go. IMO getting pitchers to throw a change-up is a very tough sell because there is so much failure that goes with learning it. It's just easier to throw the ball by somebody for a lot of these guys which is something they have been able to do most of their careers until they get to a level where the batters can catch up with their fastball.
  9. The one thing that I can take comfort in is this....the Bears are MORE LIKELY to make to Super Bowl 42, then the Colts. If they don't improve that defense, they won't beat Pats/Chiefs/Ravens again. I agree but the NFC North is going to be tougher next year IMO, along with the NFC.
  10. I think the offensive line of the Colts did a wonderful job and should have been the MVP. Grossman was the MVP. For all 4 of his turnovers. It looked like he had clown shoes on yesterday.

  12. So how was the other side of the pillow last night?
  13. Whimp! You have to do a beer per possession! How are you all feeling today? Excited, nervous maybe a tad bit anxious? Well good luck to all of you out there that live and die with either of these teams and hopefully it'll be a fun game to watch!
  14. Let's go Colts! Kick the Bears back to Chicago!
  15. I think there is an obvious answer why not put both in those positions now. The Cubs have serious doubts as to whether Pie is ready. Quade's comments at the Convention implied that Mike did not think Felix is ready and still has some things to learn and some adjustments to make. If Pie isn't ready, the Cubs are in conundrum. If Soriano is in RF and Murton/Floyd in LF, who is in CF. Jones might play there, but he may not handle it defenively either. If Soriano is willing (an he is) and able (that's the rub) then he solves the problem as Jones can stay at RF. Soriano in CF makes the most sense, regardless of Pie. Either way, the future appears Murton, Soriano, Pie, so putting Pie in RF doesn't make that much difference. Soriano has the arm and athleticism to handle CF, so it's learning the position more than anything else. I don't see Soriano having much problems in CF. CF should be easier to play than the other outfield spots mainly for better reads on the flyballs. I used to think that too until recently when I've had a couple of kids that could play RF very well but struggled in Center. They both said the got a better read off the bat in RF than they did in CF. I would think a lot of that has to do with background. Whether you're playing RF or CF in the big leagues you have the same rows and rows of seats as a backdrop. Also, Wrigley's shorter alleys make for a smaller CF than normal. Could be but they struggled at home and away. I think a lot depends on the bricks and how they go back on balls.
  16. Sisco part 2 eh? I hope Pawelek learned his lesson.

  18. I'm not sure about his ratio of PO/Att but between him and Scott Sanderson I don't know who else Cub wise that took so much time in-between pitches. I hated playing behind pitchers like that.
  19. You mean the Rock em Sock em Robots tournament is cancelled?!? :wall: How about this: The Lions and the Raiders play 7 on 7 flag football. Winner gets the #1 draft pick. What if the game ended in a tie? not sure, but I know who the loser is in that game - the viewing audience We lost big time watching the Stones last year. That was horrible.
  20. i would have trouble watching a basketball game even if i were paid to do so. it's right up there with soccer & hockey in my book. Before I went to college I would have agreed completely. 4 years at Illinois changed my opinion on NCAA basketball. I have a hard time watching more than 5 minutes of an NBA game. Hockey has to be seen in person. It's really easy to get hooked if you can go to games. Once you're hooked it's not as bad watching it on TV. Unless it's the world cup or our HS team, I can't watch soccer. My favorite sports to watch live are Hockey and College Football.
  21. Welcome to the forum! I've always been partial to catchers when it comes to managing.
  22. Concussions suck. I hope someday they can find a way to stop the damage done to the brain after having one.
  23. If this did happen I wonder who would lead off....Ichiro or Soriano?
  24. I agree unless a trade is made to change things.
  25. I'm wearing my Perry jersey and when outside my Bears winter hat I had in high school. I'm getting some weird looks also, but you have to remember: a) I work in New York b) I work for an environmental group and only one other person in my office knows what a Chicago Bear is An actual size Perry shirt?
