  1. The Cubs were at or near the bottom in production from SS, C and CF. And if they can't pull off the ARod miracle, I would try really hard to trade the farm for Cabrera to fill RF. SS is not the only opportunity. I agree that there are other opportunities out there and this is something that bothers me about Hendry, his lack of creativity in filling holes.
  2. I'm not rooting for or against either sully. I think that this game is a perfect opportunity for Iowa to win, if they aren't already mailing in the season. It could just as easily be a 37-10 Illinois win. I didn't see the Wisconsin guys complain before when I wrote that Illinois could beat their team. You still arent answering how Sully was being over confident in his post. He laid it out how Iowa would have to play to beat the Illini this week, and then you come in saying "thats the over confidence you are counting on". Please show where the over confidence was, because your statement really made no sense. "Shoving the ball and wearing them out". If these things are not executed then they will have a problem. The over confidence part of it is thinking this way but if you fail to do as you as you are used too, you doubt yourself and that's when you were over confident and not truly ready. Sure, it could easily be a trap game for Illinois. Plus, I just have this feeling that these Big 10 teams are very, very similar -- all are flawed, they beat up on each other all year, none of them scream "national champs!" to me. I think it's quite possible Iowa could suprise the Illini. I don't think it should offend an Illini fan to say that. They need to be ready for the letdown, that's all. I think that could be said of every conference this year. I think the teams that can play well in every area have a chance to go to the BCS game. Ohio State reminds me of the team that they had that won the championship a few years ago. Tough D and decent enough offense.
  3. and where is our Josh Beckett and Mike Lowell that will land such a talent. Great answer, thanks.
  4. How about a 22 or so year old kid like Ramirez of the Marlins? How are the best SS prospects out there around that age?
  5. What paper? The toilet paper? No that said keep the team as it is.
  6. Maybe a little hustle or a letter to the Trib saying how sorry he was would help the Roz feel better. I'm sure he thinks ARod sucks too.
  7. Well if you eeked out a win vs App St that Duck loss alone would have you guys in the top 10!

  10. Still? Mizzou went from 17th last week to 11th this week. Plus SFlorida went all the way from 8 to 5. I hardly consider that from no where. Michigan lost to a team that isn't even in D1. Why is Auburn 4-2 9 spots behind Florida 4-2? I think the polls should be extreme since the preseason polls are never accurate. Once they start to play more games then the jumps and falls should not be as dramatic. Kansas St gets 18 votes while Texas is #23.
  11. We did last year. Adrian Dantley's kid was our 3rd string QB.
  12. I dont think they can get the Illini doubting themselves after the last 2 weeks. The key for Iowa, and any team facing the Illini, is can they stop the run? If they can stop the run, then they force Juice into throwing which isnt pretty. But stopping the Illini's run game is alot easier said than done. Mendenhall is a stud, Juice is a stud when running, and their offensive line is terrific. I expect the 1st half to be close, and then the Illini to come out in the 2nd half and put it to the Hawkeyes. But making them sore and thinking about getting hit might do the trick. Doubt themselves wasn't the word I was looking for, apprehensive or tentative. wisconsin came into yesterday's game knowing exactly what the illini would try to do, and they could do nothing about it. the illini don't rely on tricks or trick plays, they don't rely on long passes that hit infrequently, they don't even rely on a great defense. they rely on shoving the ball down the throat of the defense, and, in wiconsin's case, attacking it's strength. the illini have probably been made to feel sore enough, but what they thrive on is eating the opposing d-line's dinner. iowa's going to have to play strong at the point of attack throughout the game. and generally, team's start to wear down in the final quarter or two against a road-grading offensive line. This over confidence is what I'm counting on. YOU are counting on? why the hate? Hate....no. I just think they will have a tough game on Saturday and when you made that post I thought "that's what I was looking to say".
  13. Where's the steroid guy? I thought Clemens was starting today.

  15. They have it very college heavy at this point, obviously it's not going to look like this next June. How did our boy from Rome do this year?
  16. So you're the reason they stunk?

  18. This might be Iowa's season and if they can hit the Illini hard and make them doubt themselves they might get the upper hand in this one.
  19. http://www.gifflix.com/data/media/81/oswald1.jpg Oh wait...it's Vance. Well there's something that I never noticed in that picture: the dude holding onto Oswald's pants. Also the only one wearing white.
  20. He isn't. Hendry ran into him when he was plastered at a Notre Dame football game and wanted to draft him thinking he played for the Irish.
  21. None of the above. I'll watch the games when or if I have the time but I really don't care who wins.
  22. Yep...I had a perfect sports weekend.
  23. I hope all the undefeated teams lose, this ought to make it a huge mess.
  24. why would we want Tejada? He used to be good. I think we should stick Trammell out there and see what happens. bahhahahahahahahaha Trammell would be great. So what the Cubs should do is trade Lou for ARods current contract and sweeten the end of it.
  25. If Soto can give a 20/80/280/350 line I have no interest in Posada. I would like to see the Cubs find a SS like the Fish got. Get a good young SS that would be cheap for 3 or so years. I'm sure they won't find one as good but I'd over pay some pitching prospects for one if there is one out there. That would keep the costs down and help with the Salary Budget. Then I'd look for an impact bat for right.
