  1. At least Maddux is staring tomorrow, right? Very good chance to then be 15-11. Maddux makes me happy.
  2. I hope that the Cubs are all over this if he wasn't called up today.... ...though looking at Pena's stats in triple A...he's only slugging .308 with zero home runs. ...so I'm not sure that Pena would do any better than Sing. Sing is starting to see the ball batter. Yesterday he had a home run and a double. He blamed his early season struggles on severe allergies, which I can attest can be debilitating.
  3. Novoa coming coming in.....ugh and Neifi. Dusty apparently wants a BIG BAT in there to lead our comeback!
  4. Good effort by Jones, but he forgot to close the glove. Generally, I like his fielding in right. Now if only he could bat.
  5. I don't know what your Aardsma post is, but I agree about Guzman. At time he looks filthy and in command of the hitters and then at other times he looks like Glendon Rusch. Oh he NEVER looks like Rusch, man. Guzman has filthy stuff. He's been struggling with control. Rush has bad stuff, but sometimes (in a great while) he's able to pitch okay when he has good control.
  6. I wish it was still the 4th Fred, but alas, it's the 5th.
  7. As Haray would say: "Lets get some runs!"
  8. Ummm. Please don't throw inside pitches to Burnitz anymore.
  9. Thank you! I don't understand how professional athletes can be so fragile sometimes. Nice K on Bay!
  10. 1. Why wasn't Ramirez running hard as soon as he hit the ball? He was just jogging out of the batters box. If he had put in a effort right away, the play would not have been close. 2. He's got to start his slide sooner.
  11. Someone teach Ramirez how to slide please.
  12. We need to get on the board. With the Pirates bullpen, this isn't over....but we need to start chipping away.
  13. Guzman has been known for his outstanding control throughout his minor league career. I think he's still trying to find it after so a long layover due to injuries. I don't think that he's a pitcher that will always struggle with control...if that's any consolation.
  14. I'd like to interrupt all this talk about how much the cubs "suck" to remind the board that the Cubs are 14-10. Now back to your regularly scheduled program.
  15. MARSHALL and MADDUX are tied for 2nd in the league in WHIP. Both have a 0.87 WHIP. Only Capuano is better at this point with a 0.86 WHIP. (Call that a double play today in the 7th that the ump missed, and Sean woudl be leading the league.)
  16. Makes two of us. Three. Four. Back off...he's mine!
  17. I'm just bummed that Marshall can't get a win. He was dominating, and the "run" was really cheap.
  18. It was not only the ump, but Ramirez did not look good defensively in that inning. 3 weak ground balls to him: he misses the first, the second he misses the tag, the third he did not throw him when he could have had the runner.
  19. I'm sooooooooooooooooooooooo pissed off!!! How can that be an earned run on Marshall? 1. Ramirez defense = really bad this inning. 2. The umpire completely missed that call about the baserunner. This inning should be over.
