  2. Ugh. I wish I could say that I have confidence that we could get two runs. Earlier in the year? Sure. Now? :(
  3. Ummmm only 1 hit by the Cubs tonight. :( Call up Pie, Jackson, Coats, Hoffpauir....anyone!
  4. I just promise to be silent for the rest of the day... But not Neifi. Neifi  I don't think the ball was going over.
  5. I thought that Hill pitched him pretty well actuallly.
  6. Yeah baby yeah! Way to go Hill and Pierre :!:
  7. Boy this makes Rich Hill grow up fast!
  8. Nic Jackson stays HOT. He was on base 4 out of 5 times with a hit or walk. He had a double and added a stolen base. I'm really starting to wonder whether he could help out the Cubs fugile outfield this year. I'll trade ya Pierre and JJones for Pie and Jackson. Anyone? Anyone? Jake Fox is flying up the prospect chart! At some point, he really should switch with Reyes in West Tenn. Reyes isn't a good enough prospect with his bat to block Fox. Carlos Vasquez seems to be back healthy and pitching well. He has a very good sinker if I recall correctly, good enough to put him on the 40 man before he was injurred. I wonder if at some point this year he'll move back into a rotation spot. Montanez is following up his good year last year and continues to hit this year. He's got to work on his power though if he's going to be successful in the outfield. Did they ever try him at 2nd? I know that SS didn't work out, but why couldn't 2nd base have worked out? Shaver and Ryu are quietly having good years so far. Both good trade bait?
  9. I'm quite confident his OBP will be much higher than JP's. Not to mention, his slugging % will be much higher than Pierre's, who simply slaps at the ball. He also has a MUCH stronger arm in CF than Pierre.
  10. We need to stop running out Jones and Pierre everyday. It's killing this team. Soriano actually looks very good this year here in DC. I've always been fairly critical of him b/c of his poor plate discipline, and then again b/c of the LF/2B fiasco, but he does look good this year. The fans in Washington are really taking to him. He plays hard with energy and he's hitting well. He's simply a much better hitter than JJones. Why not bench Pierre? I agree that it's not exciting to have either Theriot or Hairston in the lineup. With a Soriano trade, two possible suggestions from the farm could prevent that? 1. Try Nic Jackson in RF (and Pie for CF). Soriano would then be at 2nd. 2. Try Hoffpauir at first, Walker at 2nd, and Soriano in RF 1B Walker or Hoffpauir 2B Soriano or Walker SS Cedeno 3B Ramirez LF Murton CF Pie RF Jackson or Soriano A lot more pop in this lineup than our current one.
  11. Say wha? *cough* Dubois *cough* *cough* Kelton *cough* We've had our fair share of can't miss prospects that missed. Is_Pedro_There was being sarcastic... I agree that the Cubs have had a hard time developing position players of late. But to nit pick, neither Dubois or Kelton were considered "can't miss." Patterson? Likely. Choi was probably considered close as well.
  12. I really like the Riot, but why not also call up Hoffpauir? I think he would better meet the Cubs needs right now than Theriot, for he might provide some pop. After all, he has 8 home runs this year. Walker could be moved back to second and Micah could start at first.
  13. He's like the Anti-Bonds. Thanks vance_the_cubs. That is such a nice compliment. I couldn't agree more! :D And the nice guy can hit! 8 home runs already!!! I really like the Riot, but why not also call up Hoffpauir? I think he would better meet the Cubs needs right now than Theriot, for he might provide some pop. Walker could be moved back to second and Micah could start at first.
  14. Still think JP is the "3rd best hitter on this team?" Walker, Ramirez, Cedeno, Murton, Barrett are all much better hitters than Juan Pierre. Probably even Jones. is this sort of calling out of a poster really necessary? It's just gentle ribbing. There's nothing mean spirited in my post. One shouldn't take a message board so seriously my friend. Besides, I thought I was being polite but pulling out this quote when there were several others that would have been worse! If/when JP starts hitting, I welcome anyone to pull out my quotes. I'd be happy to be wrong about him.
  15. I'd love to have Soriano on the Cubs. Offer Jones, Rich Hill, and Wuertz...or something like that... I'd play him in RF though in place of Jones. I'd then call up Pie to start in Center. I'd start either Hairston or Theriot at second, whoever hits better. Another idea is to trying starting Hoffpauir at first and Walker at 2nd. SS Cedeno 1B Walker 3B Ramirez RF Soriano LF Murton C Barrett CF Pie 2B Theriot
  16. Good start, but I don't see Theriot helping all that much. Can Buck Coats play second? I'd like to see Pie starting in center now (Pierre can be a pinch runner), and Hoffpauir backing up Walker as a late inning replacement and making occassional starts.
  17. Still think JP is the "3rd best hitter on this team?" Walker, Ramirez, Cedeno, Murton, Barrett are all much better hitters than Juan Pierre. Probably even Jones.
  18. "Mark Mulder" eh? Let's see: 99 wins to just 51 losses, 25 complete games, 10 shut outs, One 21 win season (another 19 win season), 2nd one year in the Cy Young voting, 5 consecutive 15 win seasons 5/6 seasons, he pitched over 200 innings (the other, he pitched 187). I'll take it!
  19. Maddux was named the NL pitcher of the month for April. Congrats to Greg!
  20. Great to see Sing with a good game.
  21. The Cubs are 3 games above .500 after today. The Cubs are 3 games above .500 after today. The Cubs are 3 games above .500 after today.
  22. I'm frustrated, too, and I think as little of Dusty as anyone else. But changing the batting order won't help much. No matter how they're ordered, they're still the same players. Hendry (and to some extent, ownership) are to blame for what we're seeing now. It's not Hendry's fault that DLee is injurred. That REALLY hurts the Cubs offense. It changes everything about it, in face. ...though he is to blame for trading for Pierre and signing Jones. I give ya that.
