  1. Good to see Zambrano swinging the bat well and preventing some certain things from happening when he is on the mound! 8) 9 outs.
  2. So did the Wizards win? Inquiring Fort Wayne minds need to know. Good to see Prior had a better outing. Sucks that we have to be affiliated with the freaking Padres.
  3. Well, now... Maybe this is the game that turns StL's season around. Their offense is not so impressive without Albert there. Maybe an entire weekend that changes the luck from Rolen's "Buckner" to Pujols getting injured. We have certainly done the Reds a favor. They have beaten Houston twice in a row to pull within 3 games of first place.
  4. I will only comply if Neifi gets to bat 2nd in the order.
  5. Where is Lenny Harris when you need him?
  6. A Cubs fan on another forum I frequest also heard the quote by Prior that he has a tear. No link though.
  7. Zambrano is a fierce competitor, I don't really worry about these things. Just don't burn out his arm Dusty.
  8. Len said they gave Cedeno two errors. I was hoping Neifi-itis was not contagious.
  9. Um, everytime I think I've seen it all the Cubs prove me wrong. :?
  10. This winning thing kind of feels good. :) A win tonight would be sweet as one of my close buddies is a huge Reds fan and was running his mouth before the series. Not that I'd have blamed him. :?
  11. I think the current budget would be enough if it was spent wisely.
  12. It's an okay move by me. Replace a popgun with a guy who has some pop. Welcome to Chicago Mr Nevin. :)
  13. The really BAD thing about anybody in Cubs brass using that piece of wishful thinking is that the 2005 ASTROS GOT SWEPT BY THE WHITE SOX!!!! I don't aspire to get swept by the White Sox. 8) Aim higher!!!!!!
  14. It is a lot more complicated than that. Spending money alone doesn't "earn" ANY team a darn thing. The Yankees have not won the World Series in 6 years. When they did win 4 out of 5 titles in the late 90's, they did it primarily with homegrown talent combined with above-average free agents but no superstar signings. Add up how many rings they've gained since making big splashes like Giambi, ARod, Randy Johnson, etc; the number is ZERO. The team that wins the World Series every season has EARNED IT regardless of the payroll. Money spent foolishly is not rewarded; money spent wisely is rewarded and I maintain those rules hold true regardless if the payroll is $200 million or $50 million. If you spend wisely with what you have, there is no reason to feel tainted if you win a title.
  15. Yao Ming?
  16. This team will be hard-pressed to win even 81 games IMO.
  17. Nice sig. I wonder what Bobby Bonds would say/think about all of this if he were still with us? Like others, I'll have to say it's still Aaron/Ruth to me. I don't even need the asterisk.
  18. Jim Mora says "PLAYOFFS?? PLAYOFFS??" I think in Hendry's case it would be more like mortgaging the future to win 81 games. Is it NFL season yet?
  19. It is at least excitement. Something that has been sorely lacking for weeks! Not real confident about the extra innings. Haven't we went through about the entire bullpen by now?
  20. Womack has 4 hits, give that man an extension! 8)
  21. Yes, I believe the ball would have landed in the basket if not for the fan interference. Fortunately it does not matter now.
  22. Another full house at Wrigley! The Tribune is already flying their own W flag for this game!
  23. Lack of support? The Cubs have had great attendance figures for years. The fans are responsible for Lee, Prior and Wood being injured? You can't be serious. The ownership of the franchise has been the starting point of the problem for decades. The organization at every level is NOT doing it's best.
  24. I could not be more delighted. Only 3 more losses to match the magic 18-32 start of the '05 Astros, at which point the Cubs will instantly turn into the National League Champions. Seriously, even if it was possible do we really want to become the '05 Astros? It would mean getting swept by the White Sox in the World Series. :x Oh, I think Neifi Perez is vastly underpaid and should get a $10 million bonus immediately for his mere greatness alone.
