  1. Why? Marmol shouldnt even see the field with the score like it is. Use Gallagher and save Marmol in case hes needed tomorrow night.
  2. Ahh there you go Lou, lets use Marmol when we are up 9-3 instead of using Gallagher. You sure are a smart one Lou.
  3. Noway you gotta let him get settled in for a couple days before he can be used. Yeah, you know. Like we did with Chad Fox. Fox is a crafty Vet, the kids have to watch a little before playing.

  5. Even though this is an hour later, I'll address this. Marmol was only going to be able to pitch 1 inning tonight. Knowing that, it doesn't matter that much which inning he threw. Both pitchers were going to have to shut down the Cardinals in order to win the game. Plus the 5-6-7 hitters were coming up for the Cardinals in the 10th. It makes more sense to hope Fox can shut them down there, and try to save Marmol's 1 inning for the 2-3-4 in the order. No it doesn't. Unless they made a new rule Marmol is allowed to pitch more than one inning. Sure, it's possible for Marmol to throw more than 1 inning. He threw 20 pitches 2 days before and 28 pitches the day before though. I am glad that Lou isn't willing to completely destroy his arm by throwing him out there for multiple innings with a tired arm just to have a slightly bigger chance of winning 1 game. The risk of his future health is just too great, and I'm happy that our current manager has limits on to how far to stretch his arms, unlike the previous regime. Another problem created by Lou himself. Pitching Marmol in a 19-5 game.
  6. If Molina coulda made that throw hes gone by a mile.
  7. Has anything even been hit to left? Nope unless you count the HRs and Sori took terrible routes on those.
  8. They just keep pecking away. You watch by the 8th inning we will have a 1 run game.

  10. He's given up 2 through 5. And his last two games he's given up a whopping 3 ER in 12 IP. I'm as ticked off about the handling of Hill as anyone, but Lilly has been solid lately. Im still pissed he pissed away his first 4 starts sorry.
  11. 6 runs wont win this game. I guess if Hill had been getting crushed in his starts instead of having control problems, things would be different. Lilly has been rocked hard this year.
  12. I dont think you get many arguments. My thing with Cedeno is Lou flat out said he was going to get him in the lineup, but even with ARam out, he still doesnt. i wasn't referring so much to that. the cedeno hand-wringing is much more prevalent on this board than the concern about pie's lack of playing time, but at least the cubs have a SS who is hitting well to this point. reed johnson hasn't been bad but he hasn't been good either - he's been pretty much what you'd expect him to be. also, if i recall correctly, the cubs did say that felix pie was their everyday CF, which apparently lasted all of two weeks. You wont get any arguments from me. There has been plenty of us saying Pie is getting screwed around and should be playing regularly if they expect him to contribute. The Cedeno hand wringing has to do with the fact the guy is OPS'ing over a 1.000 and still cant buy a start, even when our starting 3rd baseman is out.
  13. Ahh of course, he had a rough month in Sept and the playoffs, and that far out weighs his previous 5 months of above average pitching. That sure makes some sense.

  15. Come on Lilly, I swear if you have a meltdown like you did against Pitt.
  16. Seriously can somebody tell me why my sound keeps going from mono to stereo every other second? Can I do anything to fix this?
  17. Somebody (I think Bob's Keeper?) had a chart of Hill's pitches and release points comparing this season to last season. They clearly tweaked his delivery. I remember there was a fight between Larry Rotchschild and one of the Cubs' minor league pitching coaches a few years ago over Hill's mechanics, with the coach basically calling Rothschild a complete and total idiot for messing with Hill's mechanics on his call-up and having to re-adjust Hill when he was sent back down. I want to say this was in 2006? Yea I dont understand why you change anything on a guy who was in the top 30-40 pitchers in all of baseball last year.
  18. Id say odds are about 70-30 we get bad Lilly today.
  19. Why does my sound keep going from mono to stereo every other second? Gahhh its annoying.
  20. O_O I wonder if Hill not looking like he did last season has anything to do with our brilliant manager trying to change his mechanics?
  21. Dont hold back, how do you really feel about this? Oh Im holding back this is a family board :D
  22. Yea just adds to this wonderful weekend :banghead:
  23. That is one of the dumbest ideas I've heard since Dusty managed. Lieber is great against RH-heavy lineups, but the Reds are going to trot out a LH-heavy lineup that hits lots of homeruns. Not only that, but Lieber hasn't been stretched out yet this season. At the very least, Gallagher has been stretched out and could probably last longer than Lieber at this point. Moving him to the long man spot is unbelievably short-sighted. Welcome to the Chicago Cubs.
  24. Lol. Heres an idea, we already have a long man in the pen if Lieber goes to the rotation, so why not call up a pitcher who is actually used to pitching out of the pen? Oh yea I forgot Sean Marshall is only a loogy now, can only face that 1 batter a game. This organization needs a complete overhaul from top to bottom and bring in some people with a [expletive] clue on baseball making decisions. Oh congrats Gallagher, I wish you were starting though.
