  1. I went Bryant shirsey for the last 4 games and am switching to Rizzo shirsey tonight. If we lose again I might have to bust out the Santo jersey that I've kept on ice so far this playoffs. I've been in a Bryant jersey. I have the Santo ready for tonight.
  2. Nude But if you remove his case, you void his warranty. this meme NEVER gets old. Not sarcasm. I love it.
  3. VERY close. For some reason it's burned in my memory to this day, too. I believe it's Up-Up-Down-Down-Left-Right-Left-Right-B-A-B-A-Select Start Minus the select. Up-Up-Down-Down-Left-Right-Left-Right-B-A-B-A- Start
  4. I missed the last 30 pages because I was watching the game. Just checked in to say the Cubs still have this. This is the game you expected to lose if you were going to lose any of them. Obviously you don't want to lose any of them, but I think you know what I'm saying. Kluber was unhittable last night. Tip your cap and kill their mortal pitchers. Then get to Kluber on short rest. Cubs in 5.
  5. If this thread tells us anything, it should tell us that we need to behave ourselves. People are watching.
  6. http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=847&position=2B/OF Scroll all the way down to the section titled "value"
  7. To come to the conclusion that you don’t want to start Heyward against a right-handed pitcher, you have to put a lot of weight on his 2016 performance, believing that he’s currently unable to hit anywhere near his career levels for one reason or another. http://i2.wp.com/i3.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/newsfeed/000/210/116/youdontsay.jpg?resize=433%2C368
  8. Bats RH. Also career 1.000 OPS against Kluber ... (in 3 at bats) Not saying I'm on board, but thats the reason.
  9. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rxoMbEZbXZc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QyWmL0ENdxI Not sure if you are trying to debunk the claim that Soler can't hit when its under 50 degrees, but Game time temp for Game 2 in St. Louis was 70 degrees and for Game 3 against the Mets it was 72. Just giving Soler some love.
  10. L (S) R L L (S) L R L R R Nah... A lot of lefties would have been Fowler CF Bryant 3B Rizzo 1b Zobrist 2B Schwarzer DH Cogs LF Montero C Russell JHey RF
  11. I'd be stunned if Heyward isn't playing RF tonight. Given that the Cubs are 4-41 lifetime against Kluber, Maddon is likely to put his best LH hitters in there with correlated splits. Bauer and Tomlin are inverse splits LH/RH so expect Contreras in LF when Montero catches Jake. In fact, I see it this way with what the Indians are doing: Game 1: C, Ross - LF, Zobrist - RF, Heyward Game 2: C, Montero - LF, Contreras - RF, Zobrist Game 3: C, Contreras - LF, Zobrist - RF, Heyward Soler cannot hit when it is under 50 degrees. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rxoMbEZbXZc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QyWmL0ENdxI
  12. I'd say it's more of a can't lose than a must win Certainly a do-not-tie.
  13. If Maddon keeps this simple and goes with the "no regrets" lineup, the lineup least likely to have you kicking yourself over with the WS on the line, that would be my lineup for tonight. I think my lineup would be this, but switching Zo and Schwarber. Maybe Baez at 3rd.
  14. Are you kidding me with this horsefeathers? Is he.......... badgering you? :hello:
  15. and Bryant in RF? If they haven't deviated from Bryant at 3B and Javy at 2B for Lester's starts yet I don't think they'll start now, but certainly not impossible. I think the "why now" is Cleveland's speed (coupled with Lester's issues.) Some article mentioned a "triangle defense" with Ross, Riz, and Lester. Jay makes it a rhombus. I could just as easily see the lineup stacked with lefties. Miggy in Left? I kid, I kid.
  16. I choose to believe that Theo and Jed put that clip together themselves during some downtime after the trade deadline, because they knew this would happen. I'm sure they have something spectacular in the can for his first WS bomb. are you abuck? If not, what happened to abuck? Also, as a corollary, did you kill him?
  17. I'm nervous, but a completely different kind of nervous than last round. Last round, losing would have been a tremendous disappointment. Losing this round would suck but not as badly. I'm not exactly satisfied to only get to the World Series, but I do feel like regardless of what happens in the WS we accomplished something this year. I was stuck watching "His and Hers" during lunch, (because the alternative was Colin Cowherd talking about Golden State), and the Michael Smith just couldn't grasp that Cubs fans feel that way. He called it a loser mentality. I'm sorry I am as pleased as pie that the Cubs are in the world series. A win is icing. (Pardon my disgusting mixing of dessert metaphors.)
  18. I REALLY like Schwarber on the roster. I really don't like him in the lineup. Stated differently, I like Schwarber over Stella or Coghlan. I don't like him over Soler. I think, given a chance, Soler has more production in his bat than Schwarbs does in his.
  19. This. All of this. If he wakes up Wednesday morning and can't walk, I feel good about Soler as DH and the bench options change, and the Cleveland lineup is not all Lefties like the dodgers.
  20. I believe Marmol was in that class. IIRC his slider was the most unhittable pitch in baseball. It's just that good sliders break arms. Peak Marmol was close, he had a 2.55 ERA and 2.01 FIP in 2010, and even in that peak year he walked 6 guys per 9. He wasn't close to that performance with any consistency though, if he had done that for 3+ years then sure, but that's not what happened unfortunately. I get that. I see Marmol as a cautionary tale for Arrieta. Wasn't there a fan graphs article on Arrieta and how pitchers who threw as many sliders as him get injured. This is what I feel happened to Marmol.
