  1. Because they are professionals.* Acting professional. We are fans. We act fanatical. *Professional assassins.
  2. Red flag.
  3. Cancel the intrasquad game. I don't want anyone getting hurt.
  4. The Pirates announcers are the worst ever.
  5. It is conceivable, not likely, but possible that the Cubs clinch not only HFA but dominance over every team in baseball (Texas has a slightly better record than washington) before any other team clinches a playoff spot. Not division, playoff spot! On Thurday, if the Rangers and Nats lose and the Cubs, Giants, Mets, Dirty Birds and Astros win, that will be the case. In other words, the Cubs are as much better than the playoff field as the playoff teams are better than the field.
  6. i like that it's not totally clear what you find more remarkable: whether jake would put his deadliest pitch on ice for a couple of months or that kyle was right to think that out loud Maybe someone could enlighten me but I don't see a reason why someone would completely stop throwing a pitch at all. ive never heard of a player holding a pitch back for the playoffs. I guess it's possible but it doesn't seem logical for a competitor like Jake to not use an out pitch when he's in a jam. Pitching is bad for your arm. Sliders times 10.
  7. Ill have to assume that the "others" are all for Schwarber, unless there were a handful of Kawasaki enthusiasts. But who are the 11 meatballs who prefer Travis Wood to the 2 guys who finished just below him; you know, the ones who nailed down the 7th-9th innings for the first 3-4 months of the season. There are 20 other votes and individual players are listed with 3 votes. That means Schwarber couldn't have had more than 2. or they chose not to list the guy who hasn't played above several guys who have.
  8. oh yeah. i'm still drunk from friday i guess. i guess 1-10 in their last 11 still sucked though. all i know is i was really sad after game 1. I got dumped that same night after a date while I was following the entire game on my phone, lol It wasn't a very good night If she can't love your ridiculous obsession, she wasn't the right one anyway.
  9. Most people I know say that I'm the biggest fan of any team they've ever met. Fred was this for me. A Cubs fan among Cubs fans.
  10. This is all about sweeping the filthy cardinals.
  11. Am I the only one who thinks Luis Gonzalez looks like Don Flamenco of Mike Tyson's Punch out fame?
  12. I chose to compromise and make everyone happy. I am having fish tacos.
  13. Dozier has a legitimate chance to set the all time single season record for HR as a 2B, which is currently 42 by Rogers Hornsby in 1922. Joe Morgan once hit 75 in a season. Source: Joe Morgan

  15. I'd argue that Szczur is a harder name to spell than Zastryzny. At least with that one you can sound it out...if you can say it. true but Szcz is such a stupid letter combination that once you learn it, you'll never forget it. False
  16. Long extra inning game or a starter getting hurt early in a game is pretty much all I've got. In which case I'd rather have Cahill, anyway, due to his experience actually pitching in relief recently. I'd like to see them piggyback Montgomery and hammel throughout September with hammel in relief. See if he he can be a great reliever. One of the benefits of clinching early.
  17. Hammel, Matchups, Depends on the effectiveness of Rondon and Strop when they return, and yes. The big question is whether Seal Boy makes it.
  18. Didn't we have some articles last year about how Arrieta uses his slider TOO MUCH, and how people who use the slider that much get hurt? Not saying he's hurt, maybe he just did some research and knows he needs to use it less. Maybe this is better in the long run. /grasping at straws.
  19. isn't there some nature vs. nurture involved in that, though? like many can probably write well with either hand if they learned (even though obviously we have some sort of predisposition to write with one hand or the other). and i bet many can learn to throw with their non dominant hand with enough practice. i guess the question is what's the threshold and is it about being able to do it equally as well with either hand or is it being able to do it at an acceptable level with either hand. like if i can write or throw well with my left but i clearly write or throw better with my right, does that count? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Details, details. I want the man hitting left handed in winter leagues ALL WINTER LONG. Javy against RHP: .258 .282 .415 .697
  20. That's what these Cubs need. A kuh-nuckleballer.
