  2. I'd argue that Szczur is a harder name to spell than Zastryzny. At least with that one you can sound it out...if you can say it. true but Szcz is such a stupid letter combination that once you learn it, you'll never forget it. False
  3. Long extra inning game or a starter getting hurt early in a game is pretty much all I've got. In which case I'd rather have Cahill, anyway, due to his experience actually pitching in relief recently. I'd like to see them piggyback Montgomery and hammel throughout September with hammel in relief. See if he he can be a great reliever. One of the benefits of clinching early.
  4. Hammel, Matchups, Depends on the effectiveness of Rondon and Strop when they return, and yes. The big question is whether Seal Boy makes it.
  5. Didn't we have some articles last year about how Arrieta uses his slider TOO MUCH, and how people who use the slider that much get hurt? Not saying he's hurt, maybe he just did some research and knows he needs to use it less. Maybe this is better in the long run. /grasping at straws.
  6. isn't there some nature vs. nurture involved in that, though? like many can probably write well with either hand if they learned (even though obviously we have some sort of predisposition to write with one hand or the other). and i bet many can learn to throw with their non dominant hand with enough practice. i guess the question is what's the threshold and is it about being able to do it equally as well with either hand or is it being able to do it at an acceptable level with either hand. like if i can write or throw well with my left but i clearly write or throw better with my right, does that count? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Details, details. I want the man hitting left handed in winter leagues ALL WINTER LONG. Javy against RHP: .258 .282 .415 .697
  7. That's what these Cubs need. A kuh-nuckleballer.
  8. I'll be watching on fox sports Pittsburgh. . We have moved from northeast suburbs of St. Louis to Beckley, WV. Somehow southern West Virginia is a blackout region for the Reds, Pirates and Indians. It's better than having to listen to cardinals announcers.
  9. This. And stop trying to move Soler! Schwarbers injury has shown us that depth is not a problem that needs solving.
  10. Who has won all 4 (non-consecutive)? edit (answer): None. Bob Horner (GS: 1978, ROY Jason Jennings ('99, '02) Buster Posey ('08, '10) Bryce Harper ('10, '12) These are the only four to have won Golden Spikes and ROY. None of the four won MiLB POY (neither Sporting news or Baseball America). Only Posey (2012) and Harper (2015) won MVP's.
  11. An offensive juggernaut for sure, but I'm not sure if I like that OF defense. Schwarber and Soler are both at best average, most towards below average, while Heyward loses some of his defensive value going to CF where he's going to have to cover a whole lot of ground. Bryant in right, Baez at third, either to start the game or in the late innings. Actually Baez everywhere, and everyone else anywhere he isn't. They kind of treat Baez like an extra regular. Each of those 8 gets a day off. Between Contreras being pushed off catcher and Bryant and Zobrist being pushed off the infield when Schwarbs or Soler has a day off, and a spot start for Scissor, you almost never have a starting OF of Schwarber, Heyward, Soler.
  12. I feel like you're onto something here. Baessel
  13. Does having these guys on the DL on August 31 give us more playoff roster flexibility?
  14. No love for Szczur? I'm a believer! As much as I love Fowler, if letting him walk means you can lock up Chapman, do it. Szczur at or near league minimum over the contract fowler will get (and deserves). At or near equal time for Schwarber, Ceasar, Heyward and Soler.
  15. I know, its ERA, but still cool. Leaders on the year. All five in the top 20. Hendrix 3 Arietta 5 Hammel 6 http://mlb.mlb.com/stats/sortable.jsp#sectionType=sp&sortColumn=era&season=2016&league_code='NL'&statType=pitching&game_type='R'&elem=%5Bobject+Object%5D&tab_level=child&click_text=Sortable+Player+pitching&season_type=ANY&page=1&ts=1471466217074 Second half How do you not put Hammel in the playoff rotation if he keeps this up? BTW: I'm all for a 6 man rotation the rest of the way.
  16. Its a tribune poll. I'm surprised Sammy is even an option.
  17. Was roast the guy that got his face destroyed? You should use that pic.
  18. So is that Jay Bee, or Hota Beh?
  19. I'm sorry, is there somewhere else we are talking about how Rondon is dead?
  20. Theo is getting bored
  21. I've been moving the last week and kind of lost track. Have we any word on Rondon yet? Edit: never mind. Just found an article about a sore triceps. Yikes!
  22. ...I have no joke here. I feel like this isn't getting enough attention. Thank you.
