Wow, sorry I thought it was understood not to take anything I say TOO seriously. I mean it, but mostly tongue in cheek. Theo obviously prefers a certain mold that Javy doesn't fit. I also believe part the greatness of this team is the cumulative effect of a whole line-up of patient hitters knocking a pitcher with his best stuff out in the fourth inning without scoring any runs off him. I also understand that 1 player doesn't COMPLETELY derail that scenario on a given day. I also understand that Theo will make this team better (according to his mold) if an opportunity presents itself, and that won't necessarily include trading Javy, and would only happen at his peak value. Also understand that there may be just a little hubris involved in "tearing it down to the studs" (pun intended; TM). But mostly I was trying to make a funny.

thing I love about this team #462: overworked relief pitchers in Iowa get called up, rather than overworked RP on the big club being sent down. (Also, the relief pitcher with the most appearances in Iowa is their closer)

See, that's what I've been hoping for, and it's kinda why the Zobrist signing was a "meh" for me. I'm worried Baez is never going to get a real shot with us and then we'll end up trading him. For Adam warren. Previous regime guys are superfluous to the master plan. Someone help me remember... when Theo was recruiting someone (Joe?, lester?) there was a "2016 projected lineup" that included Heyward in the pitch. Was Baez in it? Fuzzy memory details may be all wrong.

i do not consider this to be true this is insulting; for his career, Russell is +21 UZR/150, better than every other SS in baseball during that span...yes, Javy might theoretically make for a better SS except for all the errors he would sure to make PlusPlus hands

Pfft. Aren't some of us so grown up! This place can be pretty brutal for errant or dumb posts/posters. A mechanism for positive reinforcement is almost necessary. The hearts are just a short-hand way of saying "I like what you did there. Please continue to waste your time on this silly site." Anyone spending any time here can't pretend they are above those lovely hearts. I think we ought to be able to like things multiple times. That Card fan nazi tat should have at least 9001 of em. 2. I thought we could use a place to put some of the historical and ridiculous things this team is doing for future generations. This may seem unnecessary as everyone will remember the greatness of this season, but even the grand canyon has markers explaining just how grand it is. This is a place for such markers. Some of the ridiculous run differential stats should go here. Best Cubs record through 20,21, and 22 games since 1907. Best record in baseball through 20 games since 2003. (Giants?)
