yeah as much as i hate the 9th inning idea i am pretty much with tree here (i think, i thought about this for about 20 seconds). i'd just say do this starting the 12th inning, though. or don't do anything. i'd be cool with either. Or just make position players who have been removed from the game available again after the ninth. You removed Javy in the 7th for a double switch? Now he's a bat looming on your bench in the 10th. I don't like it, but it at least makes sense. No more starting pitchers pinch hitting or running bases.

It's fun to start in 2011 and then go year by year. I can't wait until the Cubs have a better record than the dirty birds over the last decade. eta: it is nice to see the Cubs with a winning record over the last 10 years. Is there any other time in our recent history we could say that? I mean apart from the next ten years.

I thought looking up scouting reports, stats, and prospect rankings would make this more clear but now I'm even more puzzled. WTF were they doing? He was a pitcher from Atlanta. He had to be good.

Pratt pitched one of his four games as a Cub while my wife was in labor with our first child. Don't remember much about the delivery, but pratt could not throw a strike to save his life. Came on in relief of Mitre and threw 8 straight balls. edit: upon further review, gamecast says two walks on 9 pitches. They are wrong. It was the night my firstborn came into the world, I think I would remember better than gamecast.

He never wanted Arrieta.... at Boras's price. I'm not at all convinced he might not have been interested, **if** Boras would have ever wanted to talk seriously involving the types of dollars that Darvish ended up signing for. Beats me, what do I know. Maybe they didn't want Arrieta, and "we thought Boras is asking too much, he never called us to tell us otherwise" was always just an excuse to not engage. But my hypothesis has still been that they had discussions with Boras, perhaps after the season, certainly dating back over the last couple of years; that they already had an understanding of what Boras wanted and thought it was too much; and that they didn't have reason to do much talking.....: until/unless Boras was to call them back and tell them that in view of the actual market, he was ready to reconsider and reduce his asking price after all. But again, what do I know. He’s referencing a joke form some other threads. Brewers fans think Stearns has been playing Theo.

No. Not long enough. I’m sure there are lots of internal meetings going on this morning where agents and owners alike are processing the Darvish signing and repositioning themselves. New offers will come out shortly after.

Except those first six days. Opening day starter will go on regular rest in his second start. Might be nice throw Monty a bone and let him start there.

When will these articles stop? His swing is broken. He tries to fix it. Video comes out of new swing. Modest improvement and people start claiming he's "fixed". Starts to decline again. Starts to slump. Hits tons of grounders. Somehow hits a HR and then returns to slumping again. Has a bad year with momentary flashes of success at the plate. Tries to clear mind and make improvements to swing during offseason. Wash, rinse and repeat... What is hard to understand? mallee broke him. Chili fixes him.
