  1. I think he starts until Bryant returns (assuming Bryant is not actually dead). Then, I think Bote starts ahead of him, unless or until Bote is found out to not be an actual god. I don't think there will be many games with a righty on the mound and Bote starting with Murphy sitting. I think about half assuming Bote keeps it up (quite an assumption, I know) That's half-ish vs righties. and most all vs. lefties. (plus days Bryant rests, Bote moves back to 3B) When Bryant returns, Bryant (as often as he's able), Heyward, Rizzo and Baez start everyday. That means you have 3 spots for Schwarber, Almora, Happ, Zobrist, Bote, Russel and Murphy. I'd say Zobrist, Schwarber, and Bote are your 3 most days.

  3. There are other players I would prefer, namely players that don't play 2B (poorly), but you can't argue with the price. Worst case isn't he a better La Stella? This is how I see it. All these lineups that include Murphy but not Bote are missing the point of this acquisition IMO. If Bote somehow falters, Murphy is a great backup plan; unless and until that happens he’s a nice bat off the bench. I’d like to see Bote at 2B, Bryant at 3B, Z in RF. Z at 2B, Bote 3B, Kris in RF is fine too.
  4. I hope you’ll engage me via private message. I’m genuinely interested in deeper understanding. what else is there to understand? I’ll share the same private message with you. I’ll encourage anyone else to reach out to me the same way. I don’t want to dance on the edge of Tim’s zero tolerance policy any further. I’m perfect happy to engage in dialogue though.
  5. I’m not sure what I’m missing here. The remarks linked suggested that while he has different viewpoints he saw value “investing relationally” with people he disagrees with. That doesn’t sound homophobic at all. Quite the opposite. Totally different mindset than Hader and others. There aren't viewpoints to have. He said he disagreed with the lifestyle. A) It's not a lifestyle B) There is nothing to agree or disagree to It's how bigots used to soft touch their bigotry. Nowadays most of 'em don't even think you need to bother hiding it. I hope you’ll engage me via private message. I’m genuinely interested in deeper understanding.
  6. Yeah, but the fact that Murphy spoke publicly about it and potentially made it harder on closet gay teammates (not to mention gay fans) puts him in a different class of awful. I’m not sure what I’m missing here. The remarks linked suggested that while he has different viewpoints he saw value “investing relationally” with people he disagrees with. 7. Not sure. Have his waivers expired yet?
  8. I feel like this is a great time to reference my 15 minutes of internet fame, and my 2016 trip to Busch VII This guy sat three rows in front of me.
  9. I’ve been really positive over the whole season, believing the starters will come around, Yu, Bryant and Morrow will be like adding three all stars come Sept 1, etc. Now, I’m less confident. The playoffs are still a crapshoot, but I feel like the Cubs just lost their Ace in the hole. (Sorry for the mixed gambling metaphors)
  10. Because he’s hitting like a pitcher since the break.
  11. There are tons of idiot, racist, sexist, mysogynist cubs fans. That there are more racists in southern Illinois and Missouri than in Chicago seems quite likely. Impossible. There are more racists in Chicago than there are PEOPLE in southern Illinois and Missouri.
  12. I'd agree. Or even Happ at 2nd in place of Zo. Bote played significantly more 2B than 3B in the minors. why not go Bryant, Baez, Bote at 3B, SS, 2B respectively?
  13. I think that cuts off too soon; maybe I was laughing too hard at the time, but I thought Strop kinda finally cracks up a bit. Nope. [bbvideo=560,315] [/bbvideo]
  14. Wait until someone tells the inbreds that Mexicans eat salsa and that it is a Mexican food. At least last year they all would dine on the rally squirrel with no regrets. It's okay though. Yadi is a Mexican, and Taco Bell is yummy.
  15. Additionally, he has not been awful.
  16. You could also use those words to describe Milwaukee. I'll take the 2 game lead and the superior talent elsewhere. I really don't care about Milwaukee; when I saw "the season" I'm talking about the end result in the playoffs, not whether or not they make it. This is kind of the point here. We have reached them point where playoffs are a given, making it to the NLCS is a very familiar place and only a WS appearance can be looked at as “success.” For me, that’s a pretty good place to be. If you genuinely believe that the playoffs are a crapshoot, you’re pretty happy this year. They may not have the talent to walk into the playoffs favoured, but they are walking in. And with this monster offends, anything can happen.
  17. Yes! Cubs are 9-8 (.529) since Bryant played his last game. Good for 85 wins over a full season.
  18. Aaaaaaand the team still has the best record in the National league. you left that part out.
  19. Somehow
  20. I know some of you think I’m crazy, but I love the rest of the division being so competitive. I feel like it gives the Cubs legitimacy and makes them play meaningful games that prepare them for the post season.
  21. In the category of really bad for a really long time: Frank Castillo
  22. Does “are you hurt, or are you injured” not translate?
  23. Get him, Theo. I’m only mostly joking. Would love to see him succeed with the Cubs after imploding with the Cards. I’m sure he won’t drop to us though, and I’m not sure where he’d fit on the roster.
  24. I mean Soler, Javy, Willy Schwarber. KB. Um, our whole roster. I think the implication was limited playing time. But then Edmonds wasn’t a great example of that. I think this is more of a Sam Fuld situation.
  25. No harm no foul, but probably not the best time of year to do that.
