  1. If/when Hendry keeps his job and we aren't all that interested in Pujols or Fielder, this place is going to be soooo cranky.
  2. I think Castro's OPS crossed .800 with that last hit.
  3. I hate to say it, but Samardzija proves the scouts win and we should probably just unplug all the computers
  4. 20 HRs from third isn't below average.
  5. With the Blackhawks? Never. I may be schizophrenic (whiny? horrible?) about the Cubs, but the Blackhawks have always been and will always be my favorite sports team.
  6. If we're all convinced that this team wants to turn it around immediately, then why not be buyers if you can find a long-term asset like Garcia?
  7. Back down to within single digits. Sort of. Does 9.5 count as single digits?
  8. Do you still have that on a hotkey from when he was on the Cubs?
  9. I can't believe Juan Pierre has 15 career home runs. That's 15 more than I would have guessed.
  10. I vote we just make this the official thread for every awful discussion on the site. We've already got ESPN and Bartman. I'll continue by pointing out what bandwagon jumpers all the alleged Blackhawks fans were during the championship run. The cap went up a ton today, which is huge news for the franchise, and the thread doesn't even get bumped. Also, it's not really rickrolling unless you trick someone into clicking a link thinking they will get something they want to see, but it's actually that music video.
  11. I'm a terrible fan and Bartman is overplayed.
  12. Ignoring his age is the lazy way. "He makes a lot of errors now, so let's just assume he'll keep doing it." Making a ton of errors at 21 is normal for a shortstop.
  13. He'll end up at SS, where he belongs. He has excellent range and a strong arm. The only issue is consistency, which will get better with age.
  14. I'm going to be sitting up all night just sitting there, thinking about how much I hate Dusty Baker now. I wish I could find some spot he frequently stands at and poop on it.
  15. We are many posts into a "Game 6 blame" discussion and no one has yet mentioned Mark Prior throwing 116 pitches with a double-digit lead in Game 2, after his arm had been flogged into oblivion in the second half. You should all be ashamed.
  16. Rickets own the Cubs. The Cubs are bad at baseball. It's the owners job to make them good at baseball. Rickets is therefore a bad owner. Q . E. . Mother-effin. D .
  17. I found out today a fairly close family member is cheating on their spouse, and you guys making me think about Bartman is still the most depressing thought I've had.
  18. This is why we shouldn't wish people would start threads more often.
  19. most games are in the evening, and there are games played in september, april and may. really there are three months of games in weather that's sometimes hot, assuming that you're playing outdoors and not on the west coast. like today's game time temperature was 73 degrees, i'm pretty sure quade could survive this one while wearing a suit. What, you're some kind of weather expert now?
  20. Off the top of my head, indoors vs. summer heat.
  21. Apparently 80 year old Jack McKeon is a frontrunner to replace him. What's cool about that is that he claims that if he does manage again he'd wear a suit instead of the team uniform. The last manager to of course do that was Connie Mack. Be cool to see a dude in a suit stroll out to the mound to take a pitcher out. It could be entirely an urban legend, but I've always heard that if a manager chooses to not wear a uniform, he can't go out on the field. He'd have to send a coach.
  22. 116 ERA+. 116. This is not some replacement level retread.
  23. Look around the league. Most teams 5 starters are probably on par with Wells. Its not his fault that we only have 3 starting pitchers that are better than him when we should have 4. No. Most teams do not have five starters with a career 116 ERA+. They just don't.
