  1. well if thats the way you meant it what a whiny and obnoxious thing to say we'll win the division by at least 5 games and the sniveling complainers such as yourself will bitch about every bad thing that happens on the way That's just the mindset of the modern day sports fan. It's not a cub thing. In the age of information, a lot of fans understand the sport on a deeper level than the ex-jocks hired to run things.
  2. well if thats the way you meant it what a whiny and obnoxious thing to say we'll win the division by at least 5 games and the sniveling complainers such as yourself will bitch about every bad thing that happens on the way We probably will. But what should be an 80% chance is becoming a 70% chance because of general stupidity, and if we happen to see this season fall into that last 10%, people like yourself will say it was inevitable or something.
  3. And he gave up a blooper. When Eyre gets healthy, he is *so* going to Iowa.
  4. to be fair, most lineups become average when you remove arguably their best hitter and turn their third or fourth-best hitter into a lesser version of neifi perez. Never compare Alfonso Soriano to Neifi Perez. Neifi did great things for this team. While playing for the Rockies, yes.
  5. K Zone disagrees. How accurate is K Zone? The box they put up always seems so small More accurate than partisan fans watching from a skewed camera angle, let's put it that way.
  6. The throw beat him by a mile. He's not fast and he really hasn't shown that he's a good base-stealer. Great he was safe though so how are you answering my post again? You are the only one insisting he was safe. The rest of us have seen replays and still don't see it.
  7. That's so Baker I almost threw up. He's honestly channeling Baker a little more every day.
  8. It's like the Baseball Gods sat down and said, "How can we screw over Cubs fans this season? What haven't we pulled before?" And they decided on making the manager an idiot, have superior players on the bench for no apparent reason, and make the Cardinals just a bit better for no apparent reason. It's a riff off the 2004 season, one of their favorites.
  9. he doesn't actually. 83% (or so) for his career (59 attempts) but 7 for 12 this year... He's been pretty good and this year he has been terrible 70% in the minors. The evidence is pretty mixed.
  10. Then he's still got one more to go before he makes up for the twice this season he's been called safe badly.
  11. Theriot on pace for 31 caught stealings. If he picks up the pace a little, the National League record of 36 is within striking distance.
  12. Lee chases. Betcha anything Theriot tries a steal this at-bat with the lefty up to make the throw harder or some garbage.
  13. Leadoff man on in front of the best part of the order. Wellenmeyer is almost as bad as Marquis. Although I'm not thrillled with the idea of a battle of the bullpens.
  14. Alright, I can't handle these announcers anymore. Mute and let my wife listen to some Canadian indy rock band she likes or something.
  15. Hey Lou, while we've got you on camera, does it bother you that you are both a filthy liar and an idiot?
  16. I don't care what his numbers say, Soriano is clearly overmatched by major-league pitching.
  17. Piniella does, and his is the only (idiotic) opinion that counts.
  18. Until the pitchers come in (except Z) True. And a few key injuries to get our best lineup on the field would be nice.
  19. Cubs have managed 3 fewer baserunners but wrung out 6 extra pitches through three innings. I love this team.
  20. lol, I wanted to see if fireloupiniella.com was taken. Type it in to your web browser and see where it redirects to (work and youngin safe, I promise).
  21. Cubs are the most talented team in the division and it's not close. Doesn't mean they aren't doing things stupidly.
  22. This is probably about some asinine thing like Cedeno not getting bunts down in batting practice or some hideous thing like that. I don't even blame Piniella. His boss needs to sit him down and explain to him how to tell the difference between good and bad ballplayers, becuase he doesn't get it. Unfortunately, I think his boss doesn't either.
  23. I'm adding Reed Johnson to my "wish to get hurt" list, despite the fact that he's an adequate player. As always, I'm willing to accept karma giving me the exact same injury as whatever befalls him that keeps him out of the lineup.
