  1. He wouldn't need to be fixed if Larry remembered what happened the last time he tried to fix Rich in 2006. All true. But on the bright side, consider Lou's quote from the Trib: I think Rich will be back ASAP once he fixes his likely Rothschild-induced mechanical issues. That quote would make me feel better if Piniella wasn't a proven liar on this sort of thing. But he is.
  2. There are plenty of extra-run hits in cricket. Technically it's unlimited, but realistically you can get up to six.
  3. I'm not calling for his head. He shouldn't have been the starting SS at the beginning of the season, and I'd just like that rightfully reversed.
  4. The entire point of pythagorean is that a good team *is* more likely to win 19-5 than a bad team.
  5. When Johnson stops starting against righties.
  6. The entire concept of errors is antiquated and outdated, not to mention poorly applied.
  7. Cubs deserve this loss for their own stupidity.
  8. He's clearly overmatched. Is there any reason to believe he can contribute at the major-league level? He should at least foul that off.
  9. It's hard to be upbeat about a team when they've won 3 times in the last 2 weeks. And on any given day, 75% of their best lineup is about the best you can hope for.
  10. Lifetime ban proposed for anyone who says Soriano was robbed of a home run.
  11. Holy sample size alert batman. If we use proper statistical analysis, Pie would never have lost his job to Johnson in the first place. But some fans don't like that sort of thing.
  12. But he didn't *look* like a major-leaguer doing it. That's all that matters.
  13. Yeah because everyone else has been hammering Cueto for us. How about we give him a month straight to play instead of only playing him against right handers with electric stuff. Lou is setting him up to fail. Normally I would agree with you......but cmon, he has been horsecrap the last 5 games he's played He went 2 for 4 with a double in the Cardinals series. Your stats are really killing his theory. I never posted a theory lol. I'm thinking he's looking just overmatched and lost at the plate. I knew he was amazing in AAA....I just find it hard to believe that he cant at least foul of some pitches and look like a major leaguer. How is it that a "stud" prospect cannot hit lefties AT ALL? That's an honest question He can. He has. He will continue to.
  14. Yeah because everyone else has been hammering Cueto for us. How about we give him a month straight to play instead of only playing him against right handers with electric stuff. Your stats are really killing his theory. It's amazing how often facts kill stupid fan overreactions.
  15. Half the lineup struck out. Not half of them took cuts as ugly as Pie's Cubs fans who believe things like this deserve everything the Cubs have given them over the last 63 seasons.
  16. Yeah because everyone else has been hammering Cueto for us. How about we give him a month straight to play instead of only playing him against right handers with electric stuff. Lou is setting him up to fail. Normally I would agree with you......but cmon, he has been horsecrap the last 5 games he's played Five games? Oh my goodness! You're right! Five whole games!
  17. He was getting praised for a lucky, low-run start to his season. Getting criticized for an unlucky, high-run start today seems about fair. That is some very poor logic sir. I didn't say it was logical. Just fair.

  19. Reality, meet Ryan Dempster's BABIP. Ryan Dempster's BABIP, meet reality.
  20. Baseball teams are getting smarter all over. Except in the NL Central.
  21. Something interesting from Baseball Prospectus: Cueto is allowing a .421/.442/.711 in 45 plate appearances with runners on base in 45 PAs, versus .170/.204/.351 opponent performance in 98 PA with none on. This may be a fluke, or he may have problems throwing from the stretch.
  22. The nagging thing about the Cardinals is that it's easy to look at their players and say they are underperforming, but they don't show any of the normal underlying causes of an overperform. They aren't getting lucky run distribution, which would show in their Pythagorean record. Their pitchers are showing good peripherals, which is really scary.
  23. They are setting up Reed Johnson to fail by starting him versus righties. They just refuse to notice that he's failing.
  24. It can never be pointed out too often that after acquiring Lofton and Ramirez, our runs per game went down in 2003. Not their fault, but the romanticization of the offense "clicking" comes from the fact that the pitching became unstoppable. When you lose 5-4, your offense is inconsistent. When you win 4-3, it's solid.
