This. When we complain about the Pie/Johnson thing early on, we're told that we're overreacting and Pie isn't having his job taken away. Then later, we're told it's hindsight. -
I don't think it's intentional, it's just bad copy-editing (which is what you'll usually find on a PR site like MLB.com, if I may be an editing snob.) As my favorite copy-editing book put it, a good editor must have the sense of humor of a 12-year-old boy.

I don't have a problem with a reliever occasionally pitching three days in a row. It was idiotic to pitch him yesterday, I'm cool with today.

USA Hockey may be getting one of the worst ref-jobs in history against Finland in the world championships. 2-0 USA lead, Finland shot hits the side of the net and goes through into the goal. By rules, clearly a no goal. Refs look at the replay, see exactly what happened and mysteriously decide to count it. No one can figure out why. It is now 2-2.

Expected win-loss added puts our pen at -.4 wins versus average, which is disgusting when you consider that we have Marmol who is worth almost 2 wins to this point by himself. Kevin Hart and Chad Fox both have leverage index's above one, which is bad. Even before today, Chad Fox had a higher average leverage than Carlos Marmol, which should be cause for an insta-firing for Piniella.

It depresses me how many times I've heard the "manager is using bad players to send a message to Hendry" proposition in the last five seasons. i didn't say i believed it I know, but it's just depressing how often this keeps coming up.
