  1. Peavy's four-year deal makes me want him less. If it was two, I'd pay a lot more.
  2. being right is clearly not a prerequisite to being judgmental. Yeah, you wouldn't believe how many people try to get all judgmental on me, despite the fact that I'm clearly right. Crazies, all of them.
  3. I don't think it's a matter of him realizing he's not good at his job. I think he's fine at his job and knows that's always been good enough with Michael around. Now he's realizing that just doing enough disappoints the boss and he's getting caught with a lack of effort by the new guy. He realizes he doesn't try very hard and wants to make it look like he does. That's probably a better way of putting it.
  4. We're in trouble. Brewers TV gun said "105 MPH" for that first pitch. Soriano, being awesome, fouled it off.
  5. Became a role model for you, didn't he I think I'd be a good role model for him. "What you have to realize is that it's *okay* to not be very good at your job. It's just a job, and it's too much hassle to fire someone for being mediocre."
  6. Ever since Jim started to realize that he's not good at his job, he's jumped to the top for me.
  7. As long as you are cool with it, I guess we can agree. You've gotta be kidding me. 1 beer on a 6'3, 205 frame doesn't impair anything. Then it won't get you anywhere near the limit, so what's the problem? "But after using a sample breathalyzer, I am sure there have been many times where I unwittingly drove right around a .08-.10" = Bad person.
  8. As long as you are cool with it, I guess we can agree. LOL. I love it when people completely ignore a long post and pick out one line like that without substance. Then again I guess I would be argumentative and bitter if I were a journalist today and living in North Dakota. There was no substance to pick out. It was a long, self-serving trail of BS that more or less argued that you get to decide which people's lives to take into your hands and which you don't. (neither argumentative nor bitter. Quite happy. Maybe judgmental, but that's one of the side-effects of being right). I don't for a minute trust your judgment on your own driving ability or your own level of impairment. And I look forward to the day you get caught.
  9. As long as you are cool with it, I guess we can agree.
  10. Not necessarily. If I have more than a couple drinks or feel impaired in the slightest bit, I call a cab. Basically I call a cab anytime I go out. But after using a sample breathalyzer, I am sure there have been many times where I unwittingly drove right around a .08-.10. Studies have been extremely inconclusive at best when it comes to that range. I mean 1 stronger than expected margarita with a Mexican meal and you're at that level. Most likely you do not feel much impairment. If you want to steepen drunk driving penalties for habitual offenders, I'm with you. If you want to steepen them on general principle, I want to know what you plan to do for people caught talking on cell phones, eating, texting, applying makeup, etc... This makes you a bad person.
  11. The guys who think it's okay to drive on .09 aren't usually going to stop at .09. The law is there, obey it, end of story.
  12. Pirates score in the first, but I don't think Carpenter really did anything too bad.
  13. Yes. But only metaphorically.
  14. Harry Kalas still does play-by-play for Philadelphia I think. He's the narrator for NFL Films, so he definitely matches your description. Dude, you're right! That's totally him! I think I'll make a point to watch a few more Phillies games this year just for him.
  15. Turned it on at 10-3 right at the beginning of the rally on MLB.TV. Whoever the Phillies TV play-by-play guy is, he's awesome. Is there such a thing as a dramatic monotone? Because he's got it nailed.
  16. I worry that all of our good hitters are either on the wrong side of their primes, injury prone or catchers.
  17. Don't plan on parking anywhere near Wrigley. You'll get some good-natured ribbing, but as long as you have a good attitude, people will be cool for the most part. But there's a small chance that you run into a few real jerks, as there is at any stadium.
  18. No. why not? i think he's got a great chance. assuming he plays 6 more years which would make him 39 at retirement, so you could easily argue he plays more than that, he basically needs 5 leadoff homers per year. that's realistic. He'll get worse as he gets older. This is just like the "Sosa can average 40 HRs a year until he's 40" projections we used to hear all the time. And he won't be a leadoff hitter forever.
  19. Versus is one of the easiest to get on p2p services.
  20. Working great for me, knock on wood. Though I am using the Houston feed.
  21. It's not really a good at-bat if you just keep fouling off decent pitches to hit. I wish the Cubs had even more lefties so that they wouldn't be cut off by my mlbtv picture-in-picture.
  22. Nothing wrong with it. If you can maintain if 162+, even better.
  23. Oh look, guess which is the only game not working for MLB.TV.
