  1. It's not impossible, but it's such a remote possibility as to not come up reasonably in discussion.
  2. 4-4 now. Fun to watch.
  3. Is it time yet? ... ... ... ... ... how about now?
  4. There's no such thing as a good Harry Caray impression.
  5. I am totally boycotting that house. I don't care if there's a rockin' Super Bowl party with $50 worth of groceries there.
  6. Next time you do it, flag down a cop and find out. If you can pass all the tests, you're cool with me. He'd probably tell me to stop wasting his time. Then, as I said, we are cool. Follow the law. It's really that simple.
  7. I see. Yes, Marmol's was significantly watered down by his low-leverage appearances. But I suspect that will be true this year as well.

  9. Baseballprospectus.com>Statistics>Reliever Expected Wins Added>Sort by team, year and LEV Kerry Woods' leverage index last year was 1.73, Marmol's was 1.37.
  10. You think Marmol would be more valuable to us as a closer than in his present role where he's probably more likely to come in with runners on in close games and such? I'd say it's pretty close, actually. Marmol isn't used exclusively in high-leverage situations, and presumably Gregg wouldn't be going exclusively to Marmol's role. If Gregg is going to be bad and the idea of Marmol taking only the one-run saves isn't going to happen, then yes, the Cubs are probably better off with Marmol closing.
  11. The threadjack into whether or not Cubbiebum is a racist or just hates Ernie Banks is more interesting by far than whether or not some stupid house changes its advertising paint job. Wrigley changes over time. It always has. If it's not supposed to, go tear down the ivy.
  12. I'd say yes, but since the rulebook doesn't clearly define it, who knows?
  13. That seems like something you should know in advance. Like before you sign the guy.
  14. Sell. Shortsell with everything I own leveraged behind it. Now, Buy or sell the Braves contending down the stretch in the NL East?
  15. ?? How did Fukudome double to the pitcher in the third inning?
  16. He should still be good for at least an .800ish OPS, which, when almost everyone in your lineup is likely to do (minus SS) or exceed, makes for a pretty damn good offense. I'm predicting DLee finishes with an OPS of around .720. I'll be happy if he doesn't hit into 20+ dps this year. That's just silly. It's not like falling of a cliff in your age 33 season is unheard of.
  17. Hot, cup-winning goalie. Sixth-best point total in the league. Certainly we aren't favorites, but I don't see any reason why we couldn't win the whole dang thing.
  18. "Don Koharski is reffing his last game in the NHL." That's almost as sweet to hear as "The Blackhawks are going to the playoffs."
  19. Huet sucks! Huet sucks! Huet sucks! (sorry, just can't help myself)
  20. Any minute now comes Khabibulin's traditional shutout-buster.
  21. It's *always* fun to beat up on Detroit.
  22. Okay, going to go in the bathroom and shave here in a few minutes. From that moment on, the playoff beard is in progress.
