  1. Also, do we really want to pay Burnitz $6 million per year for 2 years? On top of paying Tejada's bill? Don't think it will happen.
  2. Can't do a sign and trade. Burnitz wouldn't be able to be traded until June 1st at the earliest.
  3. I'm pretty sure we don't because we didn't offer Burnitz arbitration.
  4. Will Carroll strikes back at what Marshall had to say. BP Article It's a member's article, but here's a quote from the free preview part of the article: Oddly, Prior has never had a shoulder problem. Achilles? Elbow on two occasions? Sure, but never shoulder. In fact, only the tendonitis in his elbow after adjusting his so-called flawed motion to compensate for the Achilles injury could be called a pitching injury. What Marshall is describing is what a biomechanist would call external rotation. Most elite pitchers gain flexibility in that plane, giving many the look that their arm "lays back."
  5. More news: Gonzo has indicated he would invoke his 10/5 rights unless he was given an extension for 2007. Nevermind then. Moving on...
  6. bruce miles. He's very creative.
  7. Much rather give up Cpatt for Gonzo than giving Prior for Tejada. It's a no-brainer.
  8. Hopefully the O's FO is a dumb as many people think they are and they keep holding out for more until Hendry finally moves on.
  9. Oh noes. This is where al hell breaks loose. Calm down...until we get confirmation. Damn...where's the kid with Len's IM name? I just checked that thread, and i couldnt find the post you refer to, where is it? It's on page 17 in the middle of the page. Someone named iamshack.
  10. Oh noes. This is where al hell breaks loose. Calm down...until we get confirmation. Damn...where's the kid with Len's IM name? Any word from the Hooter's girls? Any sauce being thrown in the deal as well?
  11. Markakis and Hayden Penn, then, it had better be. Beaten to the punch once again. If we aren't getting Bedard and just getting prospects they better be Penn and Markakis. Don't know how much faith I put in one guy on a message board saying he has a source though.
  12. Big surprise. He never does that.
  13. brionch you know you're my boy, but how .950 OPS right-fielders were available this offseason? There were only 3 .950+ OPS outfielders in all of baseball last year. Brian Giles wasn't one of them. Manny, Bay, Guererro. Unless your suggesting the Cubs trade Prior for Manny. (don't do it...I got eyerolled off the board for suggesting it would be better than Tejada for Prior---still not good, but better.) Tejada at .865 is nothing to sneeze at. You were (we all were) spoiled by good Sammy into thinking that 1.100 OPS should be expected from your RF. I still don't give up Prior for Tejada. No eyerolling here MrWood, you are right on. This is what we pay Dusy for. To control uncontrollable players. Everyone was on the Bradley bandWGN. Manny is MUCH MUCH MUCH better than Bradley. Again, just look at his numbers. They speak for themselves. Difference: Bradley wouldn't have cost you Prior. I'm not suggesting trade Prior for Manny, just that its better than Prior for Tejada. I understand your point. If it was up to me, I'd keep Prior. But Hendry seems hell-bent on using him for an impact bat. Like you said, if you are going to trade him, at least try to trade him for the best options. IMO Manny would help out this team more than Miggy. I think you're forgetting that Manny costs $20 million a year.
  14. Hasn't been on yet, but they say he's coming on soon.
  15. He put Burnitz in-between the two for most of last season. It's a no-brainer that he'd do it again this year.
  16. Someone did some housecleaning... :D
  17. Prior, Hill, Cpatt for Tejada and Bedard
  18. Assuming Prior doesn't sustain a career ending injury and performs to his abilities. I'd take my chances on him doing very well this coming year.
  19. No, it's not fair. Prior alone for Tejada and Bedard could be considered fair. It won't help the Cubs get better, but it's fair. But there's no way that they should add a prospect. Why shouldn't they trade Tejada for prospects? What good does a proven player do for them? They have Tejada and they suck. They've sucked for a very long time, and have no hope for near-term success. What would it hurt to take back prospects instead of another veteran? Might they lose 90? Oh well, they can do that with Miggy. Will they lose revenue from fans? Who cares, MLB guarantees them money, and Angelos will be just as happy with the decline in expenses. Looking at this from the Orioles side, they trade for Prior, he pitches awesome for them next year, and then the Orioles trade him again for prospects. They would be buying low and selling high.
  20. If there's something wrong with Prior than why didn't hendry try and move him earlier in the hot stove? Couldn't he have gotten Abreu for him? It doesn't add up. Didn't want to trade him to a NL team. I could see a Central team but an NL West team? Seems a little silly. It would be a little silly trading him to the NL West if Philly would be the trade partner and I'm pretty sure they're in the East.
  21. They're (they being Levine and ESPN 1000) saying it's a definitive offer from the Cubs. If the O's accept the deal the trade is a done deal. :puke:
  22. Latest Sportscenter update on ESPN 1000 has Levine saying the Cubs have a trade on the table and waiting for a repsonse from the Orioles. Same trade that's been discussed for a couple of days now: O's get: Prior, Hill, Cpatt Cubs get: Bedard and Tejada
  23. *slap* There's already a thread in Baseball Discussions.
