  1. I really think Weaver is undervalued and gets a reasonable deal. One word: Boras I read he'll accept arb if he doesn't get a good deal. Weaver declined arb this morning. Rotoworld:
  2. I really think Weaver is undervalued and gets a reasonable deal. Agreed. I'd like to see Hendry go after Weaver.
  3. A JJ signing would bust anybody's offseason. You two aren't allowed on NSBB for at least a week if we do sign J. Jones.
  4. :x :x :x :x :x :x What media outlets are these? I've seen articles from the Trib, Herald, and Suntimes saying that the Cubs offered Jones a 2-year contract, but nowhere have I seen/heard anything about it being very close. This is from the Sportsline Rumor Mill by the way. I don't put much stock in this.
  5. The Red Sox are high on Gonzalez. I could see a Wells for Gonzalez trade going down now that the Padres have A. Gonz.
  6. If we sign J. Jones and the Astros trade for Abreu I'm going to be pretty upset.
  7. He's had an era of 4.59, 5.01, and 5.09 the past 3 years. So short answer: NO.
  8. Any way we can just pry Church away from the Nats? Would Williams be enough? What else would it take?
  9. I guess he really likes Reggie Sanders. Here's the latest from Rotoworld:
  10. Maybe we'll see Corey traded soon now that some teams are out of the Lofton sweepstakes (Arizona comes to mind).
  11. Some good news for once...well, sort of good news. St. Paul Pioneer Press No way Jones accepts a one-year, $5 million deal from us when he has a 3-year, $18 million deal on the table from another team.
  12. Nice catch Vick.
  13. Holy crap. A person who can catch the punt return and make a nice return??
  14. Wow that pass was right on the mark...
  15. Thats the problem with having an inconsistent offense; we need all the good pitching we can get. That being said, I think Jerome Williams is a fine 4th/5th starter option. I hope so. It makes me nervous though. If everything worked out perfectly, Wood would be back by May and be good in the 3rd spot, Prior/Z will be great, Maddux will have one more good year, and Williams will find his consistency and our starting rotation will be solid. But that's alot of question marks. *sigh* I guess we'll just have to see how it plays out. I feel your pain Soul. We don't know what's going to happen with RF, and at this point it doesn't look very promising. Our offense is still pretty bad at this point without a big bat in RF, and we don't know what to expect out of Wood or from our 5th spot in the rotation. Cedeno might be the starting SS now, but we all know that he's a 3-game slump away from being benched for Neifi. And what will happen to Walker? Is he going to be traded? If so that's more offense we have to replace. A lot of question marks right now, and as far as we know there aren't a whole lot of viable solutions out there with FA and possible trades. I guess we shall see though.
  16. They clinch the division with a win tonight since the Vikings lost. They would have the tie breaker even if they lost the last 2 games and the Vikings won the last 2 because the Bears would still have a better division record. At least that's what I think...
  17. Agreed. If Corey doesn't come out of the gates hot the fans are going to be booing him like crazy. It seems like the booing got to him a bunch and he just got worse and worse as the season went on. If there's ever a guy who needs a "change of scenery" it's Corey.
  18. Agreed. I think Nomar should be playing LF if anything. How is he going to make those stretches from 1b after a season where he completely tore up his groin? Glad to see him go to the Dodgers instead of the Astros though. It would have been pretty much a guarantee that he would have killed us if he played for the Astros.
  19. Rotoworld: I'm liking the way Jocketty is thinking lately.
  20. The Score just had the White Sox beat reporter for the Herald (didn't catch his name) on with Murphy. He said there's no way the White Sox could afford to bring on Tejada's contract. They are already over $90 million and the budget is for $90 milion so they're going to have to cut some salary (Garland most likely to be traded). He said there's no way the White Sox could afford Tejada's $11 million with all the money they already have on the books.
  21. I remember Rothschild saying that Prior probably would have to deal with "inflammation" in his elbow every spring training because of the torque he gets when he throws a curve. This was his "explanation" to why Prior was having elbow inflammation last spring training.
  22. I think he turned down the first offer from the Cardinals because he thought the Mets were going to give him decent money. But the Mets moved on and the Cardinals didn't offer arbitration, so he was basically stuck with worse-case scenario.
  23. I found this funny. From Rotoworld:
