So if that trade goes down our starting rotation would be: Z, Maddux, Maybe Wood (if healthy), Williams, Rusch/Hill That's awful. No way Hendry pulls off a deal without having another starting pitcher coming to the Cubs.
He can't talk about the proposed trade, it's tampering. He definitely COULD say that we're not trading Prior (or Z, for that matter) which is all I really wanted to hear him say. But he didn't. Exactly. All I want to hear is that he won't trade Prior. He said that when the Prior/Abreu rumors were going around. He's not saying that here. That scares the crap out of me. Says he doesn't feel anything imminent at this moment. Doesn't get up in the morning to shop guys that he wants to keep, but sometimes things come your way. Crap. Crap. Crap.
It's good to hear him talk about Murton and Cedeno. Sounds like he has faith in them starting everyday. Hopefully he's expressed those feelings to his manager...
I would think there is no way he'd be okay with the rotation with Bedard replacing Prior. Bedard is no better than Williams or Hill. We'd be lucky to get #3 starter numbers out of him. Tejada takes this offense from below average to above average. You'd still need great pitching to win. And the chances of getting great pitching out of this rotation without Prior are slim and none. Even with Prior they need to get somebody like Millwood. After getting rid of Prior they'd have to get Zito and Millwood. Bottom line is you can't depend on your pitching staff to carry you and go into the season with Maddux, Rusch, Bedard and Williams in that staff. Absolutely agree. I just wonder if there's enough money left to go after Millwood when you factor in Tejada's money.
Okay. It's obvious that most of us don't like this trade so much, but what do you think Hendry does next if the trade does go down? Does he go after a Millwood or Weaver? Does he spin Bedard+ to the A's for Zito? Is he okay with the rotation as is with Bedard replacing Prior? Thoughts?
Don't see the point of that question. You don't choose to be a fan. I know I didn't choose to be a Cub fan. My parents brought me home in a Cubs blanket from the hospital. I'm sure most grew up the same way.
How many more years are left on Tejada's contract? Edit: Nevermind, I don't even care. I can't justify Hendry what-so-ever. I'm thinking about becoming an A's fan.
It's like a race between Jocketty and Hendry on who can have the worst offseason. It's neck and neck right now. If Prior is traded for Tejada I think Hendry is going to win in a landslide.
Moving On. So...Prior for Tejada, huh? That would be one big kick in the nuts, stabbing in the heart, girlfriend cheated on you with your best friend, your dog just died type of pain, wouldn't it? :wall:  :wall:
Seriously, if Hendry trades Prior for Tejada I'm going to flip out. I will probably be banned from NSBB for a while because of it. I like NSBB a lot, so this better not happen.
yeah right dude obp is overrated if you cant hit what if you cant hit? i fail to see how this makes neifi look better than the hornyman. Horny doesn't catch as well as Neifi.
Guh? I sure would love to hear what Hendry thinks is a good trade that involves Prior. i feel like i just got punched in the stomach. If Prior gets traded for Tejada you better up that bet for the Peoria stop on the Cubs Convention.
And people say Cubs fans overrate their own players ... please, provide us with a list of players you'd trade zambrano for straight up. it can't be that large. I'd trade Z for a couple of players, but none of them are Miguel Tejada. And the list wouldn't be very large.
