  1. Looks like the guys over at Orioles' Hangout think a Walker for Matos trade might happen soon...
  2. I completely forgot to register for the chance to win, but my girlfriend signed herself up and got the 2pm CT time slot for us. I seriously think I have the coolest girlfriend ever. :D How does it work anyway? With the late time slot am I pretty much guaranteed to not get any of the good games or do they release new tickets for each time slot?
  3. got through once, but once I had the tickets picked I got booted back into VWR. Haven't gotten back in. :wall:
  4. Looks like they disabled the ctrl-n trick. I can't do it once I got into the actual VWR. :x
  5. They've seemed to have changed things a little bit this year (at least I don't remember this last year): http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/chc/ticketing/singlegame.jsp Did you have to have a Cubs.com account last year? Also, notice that whatever you register on cubs.com has to match the credit card being used to purchase the tickets.
  6. A wonderful move by Tony, IMO.
  7. Agreed. As long as he doesn't come back to the Astros I could care less where he played. I'd rather he'd just retire already.
  8. What would be the point to that? We'd be better off just keeping Walker.
  9. You becoming a Cardinals' fan?
  10. I'd have no problem with a Walker/Hairston platoon at 2B, I feel that would likely be the best bet. And give Hairston some bats from the CF spot too unless Grissom is on the team. Baker will find a way for Marquis to get some AB's. I don't see Pierre getting a day off unless he's injured. So he is going to play 162 games? He has the past 3 years in a row. He prides himself in playing every day.
  11. Weren't they the closest numberswise? Like only 50k or something? Yep. Don't really understand why the Cubs are fighting over $250K. They have no problem dishing out the money to Perez, Eyre, Howry, but when it comes to Ohman they're penny pinching. Suntimes
  12. ESPN 1000 just reported on the 5pm Sportscenter Update that the Cubs and Hairston Jr. came to an agreement on a 1-year, $2.3 million deal. Hairston was looking for $2.6 is arbitration while the Cubs submitted a figure of $1.95 million.
  13. What is this? It means he can't hit right handed but since he attempts to against leftys he must be able to. In other words, switch hitters seem to get way too many benefits of doubts from managers like Baker that assume they can be successful hitting both ways when in fact they are not. Jones tries to hit from the right side? I thought he was strictly a LH hitter. I thought he was a switch hitter? Hmmm....wrong again am I? Then hopefully this would help ease my pain. He's strictly a LH hitter.
  14. I don't know if this really belongs here, but is anyone else just not very optimistic about this season? I just feel like there wasn't nearly enough done this offseason to make the team competitive, and once again we're relying heavily on the health of pitchers who have proven in the past not to be very healthy. I know there's still some time left before opening day, but I just feel like right now there's not enough firepower on this team to make it playoff caliber. I was excited for the 2004 season to begin. I thought we might have a chance last year if Prior and Wood were healthy. This year I just feel like third place in the division and no playoffs is inevitable. Definitely glass half empty, but it is what it is.
  15. Looks like this deal might finally be done pending Aurthur Rhodes physical in Philly. Cleveland Indians' MLB site
  16. Probably should get a title change. Looks like the deal is barely holding on. Ohio Beacon Journal
  17. Looks like it's about time for the Red Sox to back away from the deal. From Rotoworld: Nothing like asking for a king's randsom for Crisp.
  18. I fail to see the problem with adding a player who will get on base 40% of the time and put up a .900+ OPS. He easily would be the best offensive outfielder on the team. Is there something wrong with making the team better?
  19. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/5275954 I'm sure Hendry will be on the phone to the Reds in the next couple of weeks.
  20. The Reds just hired Jim Beattie to be special advisor to the GM. Gotta figure he has the inside track at being named GM with his previous history. Cincy Enquirer
  21. I did. 3-4 weeks ago I told you folks with high probability the Cubs would sign Wade Miller. Edit: December 28th. You are an Internet hero. Ah...I was waiting for your obligatory rip of Hoops. You're not a big fan. I think we've got it now. You don't have to post your feelings in every thread Hoops posts in. He's going to think you're stalking him after a while.
  22. Looks like Macias found a new home. Rotoworld:
