    Hope they take him up on it. If we miss Lilly AND Meche, what does that mean for us? (And don't just grumble Marquis, I am sincerely curious) Hendry becomes even more desperate and throws 6 years and $120 million at Zito, meaning we can't afford to sign Z to an extension. Z signs with the Cardinals next offseason and tortures us for the next decade.

    He pounded the ball in the second half, and his .060 IsoD is far from a disaster. Did Pie participate in any of the winter leagues? If so, how did he do? You don't want to know.

    Really doubt Schmidt would be telling his Giant' teammates that he's signing with the Dodgers if he still had a meeting planned with the Cards.

    I'm guessing they meant Rich Hill... Give them Sean Marshall, a lower-level prospect, and call it a day.

    I interpret it a different way. I think Hendry is looking to add EPatt to some trade he's working on, and this is a way to up Epatt's trade value a little bit by saying he's versatile enough to play more than one position.

    Gammons on Sportscenter just said the Red Sox set a 12 noon deadline tommorow to trade Manny. If anything doesn't get done by tommorow, they will not be trading him.

    I guess Drew made the right decision in opting out of his contract with the Dodgers. :shock:

    Hendry keeps saying they do, yet he is hot to trade Jones. This is what confuses me. My best guess is, Jones has asked to be traded and they just aren't making that fact public.

    I don't believe for a second that the Cubs are serious bidders for Zito. I think the Cubs have become this year's Yankees since we've thrown around so much money. All the agents are using us to hike up the price for their client.

    Something tells me that this is nothing but a smokescreen. Yep. Probably Lilly's agent trying to squeeze a little extra coin out of the Cubs.

    $11 million a year for 4 years? Ugh. This market is terrible.

    So Lilly's moving closer to signing even though his agent isn't there and so we haven't been talking? There are cell phones and fax machines in the world. Lilly's agent doesn't have to be there to have contract negotiations close to completion.

    Murton's Davenport Fielding Rate was five runs above average. According to Chris Dial's metric, he was eight runs above average. PMR also ranked Murton as one of the better left fielders in the NL. Go ahead and insert "but my eyes tell me..." comments here. But Dusty told me Murton was a bad fielder. That's why Dusty always took him out of the game in the 6th inning.

    You're probably in quite the minority in thinking that way. And what do you have against Gallagher? You haven't even seen him pitch in a Chicago Cubs jersey yet. :lol:

    But he's really, really fast. Who cares if he doesn't know how to take a walk and doesn't have enough power to hit the ball out of the infield. :D

    Any news on Church being available? I would definitely be more interested in him than Lofton or Lugo for CF. Church has some pop in his bat, and also gets on base at a fairly decent clip.

    Exactly. It all comes down to how terrible the BCS is as a system. There needs to be a playoff system implemented, or we're just going to keep having these arguments over and over again, with different teams each year. It's a terrible system that doesn't work.

    As is the put an inferior team in the title game argument. Inferior by what criteria? records? game resumes? Florida's terrible play 6 of the last 7 games? They played terribly last night? Did you watch the game last night? They looked pretty awful until Fish for Arkansas decided to be a bonehead and muff the punt at his own 3-yard line.
