That's what J. Jones is for. Bruce thinks he will be traded. A scenario I don't understand unless they get a left-handed power bat in CF. Sarge Jr., come on down! :x
Maybe people misinterpreted so I'll try to make it more clear: J.D. Drew is not playing for the Cubs in the near future. Period. You don't need stats. You don't need to know who likes or doesn't like him. The Cubs are not interested in signing him. They'll use the bulk of their remaining money on pitchers. Crap. We really need another big bat if we're going to have Izturis and DeRosa as our middle infielders. And Is Jaque going to be our new CF? Edit: And we still haven't dealt with our OBP problem.
Blurb about Lee in the ESPN Rumor Central. Does this guy really consider Lee to be a superior hitter to JD Drew and Barry Bonds? Wow. It's ESPN. What do you expect?
Negative = Me, KC, Jon, TT, Navin, CubsinNY, Rob (might have missed a few) Positive= Everyone else You're missing a category. There are people who are still unsure, and want to wait to hear the official numbers of the deal. Put me in that category.
OPS isn't a "random" stat. And it only takes about 15 seconds to look it up at any number of sites. By not using OPS you openly admit to not using the stat that best determines offensive production in a cursory manner. So, how do you judge a good player? Batting average and RBI's. :D
I think people just need to understand that some people aren't going to be happy about the signing. That's just human nature. Not everyone agrees on everything. I'm happy about getting Soriano, but I still want to see how the contract plays out. If it's 6, $90 with option years I'll be happy, but if it's 8, $136 I'm not so happy.
