  1. Wasn't there a controversy a couple years ago because Drew wanted to play CF because he said there was less cutting involved and it was easier on his knees than RF? The Dodgers put Milton Bradley in CF instead.
  2. With his injury history, does Drew get more than the 3 years, $33 million he just walked away from?
  3. Wow. It's crazy how quiet the crowd got while he was running to the endzone.
  4. The guy who runs this website is a Yankee fan who lives in Japan.
  5. Haha. I remember the Nomar trade. I was in my apartment jumping up and down. :D I'd be pretty excited, but there's still a long way to go before this team is World Series material. I'd have to say my hopes aren't very high for the Cubs winning the bidding. Just don't see it happening.
  6. Maybe not everyone involved is convinced letting go of the biggest star and talent remaining in Japanese baseball two years before you have to is a good idea. Yeah, but aren't the Lions in some financial trouble? Kind of hard to turn down $20+ million dollars.
  7. A quote from that NY Post article:
  8. What leverage does he have now? The only leverage Hendry has is the threat that he'll withdraw his offer. I'll admit, it's weak leverage considering Hendry's position, but you can't let the negotiations go on forever while other potential candidates are signed by other teams. After Saturday Ramirez becomes an auction process. Well, if you were Aram's agent, what would you advise him to do? I think it depends on if Aram really does want to stay with the Cubs or not. If he does, then he signs before Saturday. If he's looking for the most money possible, then he waits and see what other teams offer. I think Saturday is the last day Hendry offers a contract to Aram. I really do feel that if he's not signed by Saturday, he's no longer going to be a Cub. :x
  9. What leverage does he have now? Well, if they were to get in a wrestling match Hendry is shorter and fatter than Ramirez, so he'd probably have the leverage. That's the only scenario I see where Hendry has leverage.
  10. this web site is not all that reliable but it wouldn't surprise me. Has any one heard Bruce Levine on am 1000 to confirm this? It looks like they might have pulled that story from their website. So my guess is that it was bad info. It must really be unreliable if mlbtraderumors pulled the story.
  11. This is the latest thing I can find about Saito. It's from Oct. 25th. http://www.yomiuri.co.jp/dy/sports/20061026TDY20005.htm Last thing we'd need is another guy with shoulder problems. Doesn't say anything about the extent of his problem though.

  13. I caught the tail-end of his interview. Boras said we may not know until tommorow who won the bid Edit: He did make it seem like we'd know for sure by tommorow at the latest.
  14. I liken the Matsuzaka fiasco to me winning the lottery. It's fun to play and fun to hope and wish, but I (or the Cubs) really have no shot at winning. When was the last time we outbid other teams for a high-caliber player?
  15. From Rotoworld: Haha.

  17. I think the Seibu Lions would see that as a huge slap in the face. They'd be out millions in the posting fee they would receive, and they would have to pay Matsuzaka's salary for another year. I just don't see a Japanese player disgracing his team like that. I'm sure Boras probably said something like this, but probably just an empty threat IMO. Wow, that was creepy. We just posted almost exactly the same thing at the same time. Get out of my head! Haha. Great minds think alike... or something like that. :D

  19. Kaplan gave an Aram update on WGN radio tonight. He said Aram wants to come back to the Cubs, but is using his leverage to suck as much money out of the Cubs as possible. He thinks a deal will be done by Friday.
  20. From Rotoworld:
  21. Iwamura was posted today as planned. I really do hope that Hendry puts in a bid. I'd like to see Iwamura playing 2b for us next year.
