  1. I'd be okay with that, but I think Hill, Marmol, and Cedeno is too much.
  2. If we get Miguel Cabrera, I'll need a new pair of pants. and the wife will need to use crutches for a week.
  3. Just had an update on ESPN 1000. They said the Cubs might trade Monroe soon to some team, and said the Cubs are looking at Crawford, but said nothing about a trade being finalized that actually includes Monroe for Crawford.
  4. Fuld made a catch slamming into the wall, dude. Hes a gamer Did you see his fall-league numbers? He's gonna be an all-star next season.
  5. No. He isn't supposed to be a free agent until next year, but the Cubs were likely going to non-tender him later this month. Still. Why would the Rays want a crappy outfielder? That must be one hell of a minor-league package we're giving them if we're also giving them Monroe. Also, I'm listening to ESPN 1000 now, and they're not talking about it. Wouldn't they be talking about this since it's a pretty big trade for the Cubs? They're talking about the Cubs maybe adding Matsui right now.
  6. Once again, can the Tribune sell the team already? This crap is getting ridiculous. Just leave the kid at SS. His bat isn't going to get better just because you put him in CF. How many crappy "versatile" guys do we need on this team. If you're not going to use Cedeno at SS, then trade him to a team that will.
  7. That doesn't even make sense. Isn't Monroe a FA?
  8. Awesome news. It's about time. Hopefully, the next coach will install a playbook that includes more than 7 plays in it.
  9. But how about Soriano Fukodome Lee Ramirez Tejada Derosa Soto Pie I could definitely see Hendry trading for Tejada. I also see him signing Matsui, so we have another LH bat in the lineup. Here's what I think our starting lineup will look like next season: Matsui 2b Fukudome RF Lee 1b Ramirez 3b Soriano LF Tejada SS Soto C Pie CF That lineup would definitely be better than what we put out last year.
  10. alas, Joe Carter is no longer with us maybe the cubs can make it to the playoffs and get dick stockton to broadcast another game. that would definitely be interesting.
  11. Too lazy to click a link? http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/7431662
  12. 4 years for a 36-year-old catcher? That's insane. Of course, it's the Yankees, so it's no big deal for them.
  13. I don't understand why people are still talking about Dempster as a closer. Hendry and Lou have already said he's going into the rotation.
  14. I don't understand why everyone thinks we need to add to our bullpen. Re-sign Woody, and I think we're pretty much set in the bullpen.
  15. I can't wait until when Infante is batting 2nd behind Soriano. That is like OBP heaven.
  16. Maybe we can sign Glendon Rusch to a 1-year deal now.
  17. Who? Chicago Sports.com This Chicagosports.com article says we're giving the Tigers cash considerations.
  18. Anyway we can get MLB to freeze the Cubs' roster until after the sale of the team? That way Hendry can't do anymore damage. I'm willing to live with a crappy team next year.
  19. I'm not so sure it's a salary dump. I still think it's Hendry doing Jacque the favor of trading him. Why make this move before free agents are even eligible to be signed? Couldn't Jacque's trade value increase once the biggest free agent losers look to fill their outfield holes? Couldn't the smaller market teams find interest in a guy in the last year of his contract over signing a similar guy to a 3 or 4 year contract? Why trade a guy from a position of weakness compared to trading him from a position of strength? If the Cubs already had Fukudome signed, then you consider trading Jones, not the other way around. Jones made for a decent back up plan if they didn't find an improvement over Jones. Not sure I follow. You say that it's best to trade a guy from a position of strength (which I agree with), then go on to say that we should have waited til after we signed Fukudome and then traded Jacque? That doesn't make sense. At any rate, even if Hendry traded Jacque at his request... it's still a salary dump. At the end of the day, Hendry has 3 million more than what he started with. Lastly, with Infante now on board, Cedeno becomes even more worthless than he was last year. I wouldn't be surprised if we see him included in a package somewhere. For Crawford maybe? There are reports that the Cubs are paying for part of Jones' salary, so we don't have an extra $3 million at the end of the day.
  20. According to this article Infante has a weak arm, so I don't know if he can even play SS. Looks like we've got another crappy 2b on our hands.
  21. We're also paying part of his contract. Horrible.
