  1. there's no way we're trading Pie or Hill for Roberts. I don't have any problems giving them Marshall, Gallagher, or Epatt though.
  2. They just signed Jose Guillen to a big contract, so it looks like Teahen is expendable.
  3. Sign Fukudome for CF, trade Murton and Fox for Teahen, trade Pie and others for Bedard, and then call it an offseason. :D
  4. Yeah, I've been reading that as well. I just don't see that happening. I can't see him leaving Iowa. I also don't know how I would feel about that. He turned around an Iowa program a couple years ago, but his teams have been down the past couple of years and he can't even beat Iowa freaking State. Decent point. Michigan is a selector when it comes to recruiting though and that may make a big difference. I don't think Fernetz has the talent at Iowa like you guys do and he does a lot with what he has. I'm sure the Iowa fans would know more about his X's and O's but I think he'd be able to recruit very well for you. Does Michigan want a 3 yards and a cloud of dust guy or are they willing to except a different philosophy? That's what I don't think anyone but the higher ups at Michigan knows. It's always been about tradition, but the run-left crap hasn't worked for them for a while now. They need a new philosophy or they're going to get left behind and end up like Notre Dame and Nebraska. That's why this hire is a huge deal. I don't think Michigan needs to hire the big name like Ferentz. They just have to think outside the box and look at guys like Petersen from Boise State or Kelly from Cincinnati, or even Martin from GVSU. What did Peterson do before Boise? I just wonder if he's not successful because of Haskins before him or was that his philosophy that made them better? I've read nothing but good things about Petersen. He's supposed to be good with the X's and O's, and he's a "blue-collar" coach who gets his players to play hard. That's pretty much the exact opposite of Carr. I don't know about his recruiting skills though.

  6. Please tell me he's their new closer.
  7. If by dynasty you mean making the playoffs quite a bit in a terrible division and possibly lucking into a World Series, but getting absolutely destroyed by any AL team that makes it, then yes we could be a dynasty. Hey...St.Louis won the WS two years ago with a downright bad team...who says we can't. We're not nearly that lucky.

  10. Hendry's waiting for Michigan to pick a coach first, then he'll make a move! Guess we're not making any moves this offseason then.
  11. I have to say, I'm loving this year's winter meetings. Tons of things going on. Just wish the Cubs would get in on the action.
  12. Former U-M Players Frustrated This UM coaching search has disaster written all over it. There are also reports in various newspapers saying that Miles' agent reached out to Martin (UM's AD) on Friday because LSU offered him a contract, but Miles wanted to know if Michigan was interested. Martin couldn't be found though and didn't answer his cellphone when Miles' agent called because Martin was down in Florida on his yacht partaking in an event at the Ocean Reef club in Key Largo.
  13. Jim Hendry is losing it. The stress of the job is getting to him. He had heart troubles last offseason. This offseason he needs to be checked into a mental institution.
  14. I think your sister-in-law somehow confused Will Carroll and Wilmer Valderrama.
  15. If you say you're in favor I WILL HUNT YOU DOWN. Just like I'd hunt down Lloyd Carr because a move like that reeks of him having a hand in the hiring.
  16. Ball State head coach Brady Hoke leads race for Michigan HC job. I'm flying back to Ann Arbor and burning down the Big House if this happens. From all the rumors that I've read, Michigan is basically looking for a "Michigan man" who's looking for "what Michigan brings" than lots of money. They're basically going to be cheap skates even though they have more money than they know what to do with.
  17. Your 2008 World Series Champs...The AL is jsut unbeleiveable.. Could you imagine if the Cubs were in the AL? We'd be competing with the Rays and Royals for top draft pick in 2009 for sure.
  18. Wow. Good for the Tigers. Can't believe they came out of nowhere and made that deal. The Marlins are definitely getting some good players in return though.
  19. I would be all over that move. Get it done Hendry.
  20. 3/4 of Old Prior > 2/3 of all pitchers in the bigs, and he's relatively cheap. $3MM for no production is not cheap. The Cubs are no desperate for starting pitching this year, there is no need to potentially throw $3MM down the drain on wishful thinking. Exactly. Prior hasn't even started throwing again. Who knows how long it would take before he's even ready to pitch in a game. Also, shoulder surgeries seem to be more difficult to come back from than elbow surgeries. Plus both sides seem ready to move on.
  21. The speedy LH obsession continues. By the way, are you writing for Rotoworld nowadays Prior? You're on top of all the new happenings so far this offseason. :D
  22. The NE hatred is hilarious. I'm amazed there are so many Ravens fans on this board. Who knew?
  23. The man-crush grows after reading that. One smart man.
  24. Holy Crap.
  25. Haha. NE just kicked off from the Ravens 30 yard line.
