    They've been major players for Bedard from the Orioles, so I don't think it's that big of a stretch that they could turn their attention to Santana if they feel they have a shot to trade for him.

    Yea, Roberts isn't coming to Chicago. I've said it before, but I'd be pissed if I were an Oriole fan and had Angelos as an owner. The guy has to have his hand in everything. I wonder if MacPhail said he'd only come to the Orioles if Angelos stopped micromanaging a bit. It's ridiculous that their GM's can't trade players because the owner thinks Roberts is a swell guy or whatever.

    I'm guessing Rolen is traded relatively soon. I don't think he'll be on the Cards roster come opening day. Let's just hope that whoever takes him makes the Cardinals pay for pretty much all of his salary.

    Cripes, not another painfully long and agonizing thread... What would you do as a moderator to shorten them? Institute a mandatory castration policy for people who are clearly padding their post count. As long as you're the first up for castration.

    I'm guessing Tejada goes to the Angels, and there's no way we could beat the package the Angels offer. Plus, didn't Mr. Miles say the other day that Tejada was too expensive for us.

    Haha. Levine just called Cedeno the "shortstop of the future" for the Orioles if the trade goes down. He says Cedeno is the only name he's sure of right now.

    The latest ESPN 1000 update had Levine saying the latest offer was Cedeno, a pitcher, and an outfielder for Roberts.

    Am I thinking of a different Brian Roberts? That's awfully steep. Done without a second thought. murton's four years younger than roberts and has better career offensive numbers. obviously they don't play the same positiong, but including murton in a deal for roberts is too much...let alone topping him off with three other decent trading chips. if the cubs had a glaring hole at 2b, maybe i'd think differently. Last year Roberts had a higher VORP than any player on the Cubs. He's a good player. I wouldn't have any problem giving up Murton.
