  1. Billy Petrick is coming up. There's another thread in this forum on him. Right, thanks - the title of that thread is the only time I've heard his name, but I've been too busy and pumped over this thread to bother with the other one. Good to know.
  2. Assuming the deal happened... Since it's happening so late, who are they going to replace Jock with on the roster? Don't they also need to notify that 6th bullpen arm that he has to come up and most likely pitch tonight?
  3. Yea, same happened here. I tried explaining that I was trying to keep up on a baseball trade rumor. He believed me. Completely.
  4. The possibility alone is enough to peak the interest through the roof.
  5. The question that came to mind for me in that part was, did he really have to manage for a full season in order to figure that out? Or do they not tell him how much he makes until his check arrives in the mail at the end of the season?
  6. It's a game thread. People went through a ton of emotions last night. What's with all the English teacher's coming out of the word work and telling people how they should post? Who cares? "word work"? Leave me alone. [jerk]Also, "teacher's" is possessive, "teachers" is plural.[/jerk]
  7. Games like this one are exactly why I have never bought into the idea that Ron needs to go. TV or radio, there's no one I'd rather hear in the booth in that situation that Santo.
  8. Hendry is running this team. I'll believe he adds a pitcher when I see it.
  9. Hendry is running this team. I'll believe he lands a pitcher when I see it.
  10. Brilliant knee-jerk reaction. He's been great the last 3 years. He was dominant in his last 12 outings and all of June: 14 IP, 8 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 14 K, .71 WHIP, .64 ERA. He had one bad night pitching on his 3rd consecutive day. He also didn't have very much time between being told to get up and start warming to when he was brought in the game. I seem to remember Sammy having a few multi-HR games against the Rockies (hit 3 at least twice against them, I believe), and I think the last time the Cubs scored a run in every inning was in Coors Field as well.
  11. If the WC is realistic, so is the division. I personally believe that the Brewers at 7.5 is more reachable than the WC spot at 6.5. Bottom line is that no matter what happens, the Cubs have to be better to get there.
  12. I can't handle another one like that. Please just keep it simple and win without the theatrics.
  13. As far as I'm concerned, his first year of contract has officially been earned.
  14. I talk to myself when golfing or bowling.
  15. Yea, I was listening live, and when I went back to hear it again, my only thought was that the WGN radio crew really needs to do something in order to ensure that the mike is much closer to Ron when he has a cow like that. He was going absolutely ballistic, but he was too busy dancing around the booth, so we couldn't really hear anything.
  16. Why the hell does this team do this to us? Come on, Sori. Your first year of contract is officially earned with a basehit.
  17. I dunno who that is, but some help from Rod would be nice. rob beck #-o
  18. The offense has been decent tonight - hopefully the Cubs can push in two right now, because one definitely won't be enough. If this goes to the tenth, is there a starter that can be brought in for his throw day?
  19. Fans again with the LF/RF sucks chants. I think I prefer the wave over this.
