  1. Pinghitter (UK) = a golfer from England? An aluminum bat swinger in Kentucky? A combination of these? It's so ambiguous. snoodmonger = one who mongers snood. Pretty cut and dry. +1 Snood
  2. This phrase has been working pretty well Vance. Keep it up. There are plenty of game thread staples that have been working pretty well. (See Southpaw19, Otis, CubbieChris*, A New Era*, and cubscausestress*) * These posters will be along with theirs shortly.
  3. If Fontenot sustains being within a hundred points of Lee's 05 for half as long as Lee did, I'll have his babies.
  4. This talk of teams is pretty pointless, IMO. The Brewers have won 12 of their last 14. No major league schedule is easy enough for 14 games to make winning 12 of them anything but impressive, to say the least. This weekend is going to be a HUGE test for both teams, no two ways about it.
  5. I am very confident in the Cubs ability to secure at least the wildcard if they continue to win at the same pace they have been over the last 6 days. If they continue to win at the pace they have over the past 6 days, they'll win 123 games. That might even be enough to let Hendry off the hook.
  6. With the Cubs and Brewers playing so hot right now, this weekend's series is about perfectly timed. Except for that whole Zambrano not starting part. It's going to do a lot to shape what the race will look like for the third quarter of the season, IMO.
  7. Me too, what's happening? Is there still a lead?
  8. Dadgum right. It's called hitting, not walking, Dude.
  9. I'm sensing a little inconsistency here... 4 game set with colorado, swept the dodgers, won once against San Diego. ahhh... makes a little sense. BOOO faulty assumptions. HooRAAAY Cubs!
  10. Give me a break !!! Aren't we all? Even your grandkid is too old for this crap, he's just too young to realize it.
  11. So $6.6 million wasn't enough for the Marlins? Sheesh...$6.6 million was way too much to begin with Jim. Glad you finally woke up before Larry really stuck it to you. I'm more interested in what "I have another scenario" means. What team and what player? Actually, I'm most interested in the part that Zell had nothing to do with it. I was getting seriously (even more) concerned for the long-term future of this team if Zell was starting off his tenure in such a way. I think if Zell had nothing to do with this deal not happening, that's the best big picture news for the Cubs this whole thing has to offer so far.
  12. A sweep here would definitely make this three-game series the most impressive baseball the Cubs have shown all year, even counting the 6-run meltdown the other night. Break out the brooms, Z!!
  13. Whattaya talking about?? Cubs are 2-0 this season when taking an 8-3 lead in late June.
  14. I'm too old for this crap. Way to go Cobs. I'll have a new bottle of rolaids for the game tomorrow.
  15. I can't say I agree with this move, but I can't say I disagree either. Please please PLEEEEAAAASE don't suck Ohman.
  16. At least now we know that if they're going to erase this lead, they won't do all the damage with no outs.
  17. I can't find a panic button, but I'm hitting everything in arm's reach. I can't take this again. STOP THIS NOW!!!
  18. Sutcliffe was a little slow with his pace and WAY off tune, but I think he could be worked into a platoon situation with Ron from now on.
  19. yea, i'd like to hear about this...cuz this is news to me!! When did it come out that Zell was the one who stopped this?
  20. If the Cubs can cling to this lead for the rest of the game, then drawing out their pace over the last five games would have the Cubs finishing at 123-39.
  21. less than you would think...eyre and howry are NOT available tonight i'd like to see a big enough lead you can get the kid in and not use any important relievers...if lilly gives you like 7 or 8 ::knock on wood:: Nevermind...i didn't know Lilly's pitch count....forget that gonna need the pen...here's hopin Z continues his streak tomorrow I'll be happy if he makes it thru the 6th with his pitch count. I'll go out on a limb and say that the bullpen won't have a repeat performance.
