  1. I'm pretty sure it was Izturis, either first or second inning.
  2. Now Eyre in to try to rescure Wuertz. Bloody fantastic.
  3. Fontenot should go back to AAA so he could get more guaranteed playing time.
  4. Hopefully Wuertz puts a stop to this before it gets out of hand. Nice outing by Marquis after stinking so badly his last few starts. He definitely needed that.
  5. According to Ron, after that first inning, he's done better about keeping the ball down and hitting the corners. Control is still a little suspect, as is the strike zone, but overall not too bad so far.
  6. He didn't swing. Wasn't even close. He checked his swing in plenty of time, but it was his check swing action that put his elbow in range to be knicked by the ball. The would not ordinarily have been a HBP, and there was no attempt to avoid the pitch. When was the last time an ump ruled no base for failure to attempt to avoid the ball? I don't think that part of the rule is ever enforced anymore.
  7. What do you mean yuck? Cubs score three runs this inning, I'm calling it now. (Either that or they're done on no more than 7 pitches.)
  8. Pat and Ron are making it sound like he swung at that ball. What happened?
  9. Runner at 3rd and one out, and the Cubs score a run?! Who is this team?
  10. Fontenot gets picked off, making it 2 out none on. A 4-run rally to follow is definitely not what I expected to follow.
  11. If the Cubs were the Brewers I'd be sure he wouldn't. If the Cubs were the Brewers we'd all be happy campers. For some reason, this hit me on a big picture level, and it truly saddened me.
  12. Next time my stomach decides it wants to start rejecting everything I give it and keep me home for the day, it better do it when there's a day game.
  13. vvvv Yea, I couldn't help myself either.
  14. They're definitely not a bad team. 2 of 3 would be a great showing.
  15. With Izturis on the roster, I'm not that shocked, especially since Jones put up acceptable numbers last year. Marquis' turn south over the last few starts could have him rising to the occasion, especially if the Cubs start winning games and he becomes the streak stopper.
  16. I think your golf store is next door to me, but I don't see a Waffle House around here anywhere. There's a Ruby Tuesday up north of here, by Wal-Mart & Home Depot. We went over to the 194 exit on I-20, closer to the base, and had dinner at the Cracker Barrel. They had a Waffle House & a Huddle House over there. This load delivers to a small warehouse on Columbia Nitrogen Rd, over by DSM Chemicals & Monsanto. Then, I gotta go pick up a load at Kimberly Clark over on Beech Island. Love the aroma over that way !! Actually, when you get off on exit 194, you could turn right OR left and hit a Waffle House within the first tenth of a mile. That town is swimming in Waffles. And wonderful aromas.
  17. Are you delivering there or just stopping over? Where in town are you? I hope it doesn't smell TOO much like Augusta right now. Busted my tail to get here Saturday night..... only to find out that I can't deliver this damned load until this morning !!! I had visions of dropping this trailer and getting another and being 1500 miles from here by now. Oh well. Found a motel up by the intersection of I-20 & I-520; used to be a Howard Johnson, but now an Indian gentleman owns it. It's clean, has truck parking, free wi-fi, and WGN on the cable system.... so it passes my rigorous standards. My perfect record is still intact, though..... every time I come to Augusta, you're not here !!! That's about a block and a half from my old apartment. My favorite Waffle House in the area used to be right there, as well as pretty much the best golf store I've ever seen, but those are getting torn down to redo the whole interchange there. Where did you have to drop your load? (har har)
  18. Oh yea, and I love how, right as Z steps up to be our losing streak stopper, Marquis' magic dust wears off and he is now our bona fide winning streak stopper. PLEASE don't suck tomorrow Marquis.
  19. Are you delivering there or just stopping over? Where in town are you? I hope it doesn't smell TOO much like Augusta right now.
  20. I hope for the sake of anyone who gives a crap about the WSox (other than Hawk) that this pattern doesn't hold up next season, because the experience of being a Cubs fan in 2006 is nothing I would wish on anyone. Other than Hawk.
