  1. With a big lead, what's the worst that could happen?? :)
  2. Eh, either way, it takes a basehit to score him. yeah, and now he can't score on a balk/wild pitch/passed ball/infield hit, and possibly a line drive right at an outfielder. Lucky for Fontenot that DeRosa's a stud.
  3. Thats pretty cool although that kinda makes you think twice about buying an Oswalt Jersey or something. Does it apply for shirts from the opposing team?
  4. that's a friendly way of putting it. Helton fired a laser rocket that got interrupted by Pie's mitt. Awaiting confirmation from Cubs trainers that Pie still has any fingers remaining on glove hand.
  5. I've been under a rock..... what was the rumored deal that went south ?? Look at the 50 page (non premium) thread in transactions  Jones to Florida for crap. Minor leaguers with the Cubs paying most of his salary, I assume? That was the idea - there was also the talk of Florida getting a PTBNL as well, and for one A-level pitcher.
  6. Ron already with the first gee whiz for the night.
  7. You would think after what Howry did last night that there would be no temptation to use Howry today. That's what I was thinking. The story would make much more sense if he were told to sit in the corner for how last night went down.
  8. We don't hate him anymore? When did this happen?? If you were on the mailing list like everyone else you would have gotten a letter about it last week. You people need to be better about informing me of my opinion. And wtg on the advance, Sori!!
  9. We don't hate him anymore? When did this happen??
  10. 13, 9 for strikes. Sweet... normally Ks = high pitch count, which could make for more scary late innings again.
  11. With whats-his-name on the roster and the three guys who are on a day's rest, I think they'll get by okay. But yea, I'd like to see Lilly break out another 8-inning game.
  12. Figured it'd be too good to be true. In Jones' defense, he DID score the game-tying run on the walkoff play last night. /got nothin
  13. At least the guy who ran onto the field can claim complete temporary insanity, as the time from decision to the time of getting tackled was likely less than ten seconds (he even forgot his shoes in his haste). The guy doing the video made it a point to film his own TV, then he started talking, then he kept talking. Plus, in order for him to have narrated the way he did, enough time HAD to have passed (recording, rewinding, filming, posting to youtube) in order for him to know that the Cubs went on to win anyway. Video tape guy in a landslide.
  14. I never got to see the infamous spike throw, and I've tried youtubing it several times before. Any chance someone around here knows where I can see it?
  15. I wonder if Hendry just forgot to get rid of someone. I mean, he IS Hendry.
  16. Now everybody hug and hope we don't see Izzy or Jock in pinstripes again.
  17. Not much if the Cubs don't ride the momentum to victory today. Not true. If the Cubs lose today, it's just a snag following a 4-game win streak, but if Sori pops out to end the game yesterday, a loss today would be a momentum-building slide down a steep slope following that 6-run 9th. I stand corrected. Although a win today and a loss yesterday says that the cubs can overcome adversity....something that they don't do often. True, there'd just be that much more pressure on them today. Overcoming adversity in the bottom half of the inning was much more fun anyway :D

  19. I just watched the 9th inning rally and Sori walkoff videos on cubs.com a couple times each. I don't think the reality of what Soriano's single saved the cubs from has really set in yet.
