  1. Terrible idea. It's why the Rangers are the worst team in baseball and not the Cubs. Cubs don't do that garbage, and it works out much better.
  2. I'm bummed about the Cubs stinking like poo this game.
  3. Looks like Hill/Blanco from now on, with Hill being the #1. lmao Bowen is a backup and maybe a fringe #1. Is there any chance Jake Fox or the guy from AAA will be called up? From what I've seen, Hill can't hit. Why did we trade Barrett for trash??? Because clearly we needed to improve our fielding, and trading Barrett cleared that right up. Koyie Hill leads the leagues in RGI. Cesar has the RGI, Hill leads in CERA. Based on the stats (and pretty much anything other than this game), we must have the best defense in the game.
  4. I'm convinced that the only reason anyone here believes that is because we wanted to believe it's true, as it was the onnly glimmer of positive side from the Maddux trade.
  5. Anyone have their email address? We should bombard it with porn spam. i am very down with that I would be down too, except they're right. In fact, it's worse than that. Cubs fans know better than to try to kick the ball hard, so they just try to tap it over first, without a moving start at all, and when we miss anyway, we still fly up in the air and land on our heads.
  6. 2 for 2 in scoreless innings with an RISP. WTG Cubbies!! #-o
  7. The Mets/Yankees/Red Sox threesome has a lot of the same elements. I thought about them, and decided they have a big enough fanbase that it all seems to be a true rivalry whose fans care more about the success of their own team than the demise of the others, whereas the WSox issue seems to be more of a bastard stepchild complex. [/homerism]
  8. In addition to that poll, the official WhiteSox homepage affiliated with mlb.com has that big fat banner on the top proclaiming that they "are Chicago baseball." Is there another team anywhere in professional sports whose very existence is so centered on another team the way the WSox are on the Cubs?
  9. Why don't you go through and check how of those blown saves were in the 9th inning. Every middle reliever in baseball has the exact same numbers. Every time he's blown a lead in 8th, it counts as a blown save. On the other hand, he rarely (and maybe only 4 times) gets a chance to earn a save. Someone pointed that out to me 7 pages ago, but thanks again.
  10. How can you say that? Levine was just on ESPN 1000. They still don't know who the prospect is though, but apparently the comes put up more money so they could get a better prospect. the who now? the Cubs. Whoops
  11. Too bad Peavy, Young, or Wells weren't included in the deal.
  12. A lot of those were probably well before the ninth inning. Most likely, he was not in those games to finish them. I don't like the fact that a reliever can get a blown save in a "hold" situation. Wow, I didn't know that. Lame.
  13. Nah, they'll send down Marmolicious to make room for him. It's the Cub thing to do.
  14. Linebrink's career as a closer has him completing a whopping 4 of 25 save opportunities. He's replacing Dempster!!!
  15. I really hope those reports are wrong. No way should they be moving EPatt for such a mediocre deal.
  16. Do the Padres have a catcher who at least has the potential to bring a little offense? If not, I hope this is only the first of a couple moves to bring one of those back. I don't think the Hill-Blanco tandem would get much done at the plate. Did they package Jones or Izturis in the deal?!?!
  17. Agreed. Side note: KUers sure seem to be damn proud of being a Free State (just a side note from past visits to Lawrence). those guys were some of the cruelest bastards to lift arms in the war if you're talking about the Jayhawkers, both them and the Bushwackers were pretty rough. But the Lawrence massacre was by far the single bloodiest of the events, and it was perpetrated by Quantrill and the Bushwackers. i'm well aware of what Quantrell and his bushwhackers did, meh, im too drunk and tired to even try, lets just say i'm a southern sympathiser and call it a dAy....slavery was going to be phased out sooner than later(new technologies)...the war of northern aggression was a war over taxation without representationBefore moving away from the Chicago area, I used to laugh at this phrase and those who uttered it. Five years in GA and a little bit of real reading changed a thing or two about my perspecti--- Crap. I'm posting in a poll thread about the 1861-1865 War. Do we seriously need any more rounds of this? Please people, vote your answer to that question.
  18. Indeed. Tonight was a great night for Sammy to strike out three times in lieu of hitting #600. Plus, we all know it's going to be a meaningless HR anyway...
  19. If the ball was even half as fuzzy as Dempster was, it's no wonder the Texas hitters had no chance. Great pics! Tell that boy of yours I said hey.
  20. More clever, yes, but pingpooper is still funnier. Pingpooper.
  21. The Cubs are 10-2 when I throw up. have you considered bulimia? I'm already skinny. I would be nonexistent if I were bulimic, but at that pace, the Cubs would be 135-27, so maybe this is something worth looking into.
  22. My day just keeps on getting better!! Has youtube come through on this one yet?! This would be the perfect nightcap.
