  1. Actually, it's on WGN (12:05pm start). If it were a Fox game the start time would be 2.55pm CT. Oh cool, thanks. It doesn't seem like any Bay Area locale carries WGN. Hopefully the hotel I'm getting tonight has it and the gf doesn't mind sleeping in until 1.
  2. Is tomorrow's game the national broadcast on Fox? I hope so, since the other options for the time slot are DRays-Yankees and Mariners-BlueJays, though it figures that last week, when a Bay Area game blocks me out, would be the week it's a national broadcast. On a related note, I vote for the new game thread to start.
  3. I think Hardy just drove in the game-winner. (Though the Brewers will likely tack on 6 or 7 more, just in case.)
  4. NLDS, Game 2, Kendall hits a GW-homerun to tally his first hit as a Cub, after starting out 0-117. Just a guess.
  5. Everyone points to June 3 as the beginning of the hot streak. That was the last game of a home series with AtL (they lost that series 1 game to 2). The Cubs went to MIL for three games and the rest is history. The Cubs are now 29-13 since June 13. That's a whopping .690 winning % The sweep over the Sox was the beginning of the 7-game winning streak, which followed losing the last two games in Texas, and the beginning of the current stretch of 19-5. A win tomorrow will have the Cubs playing .800 baseball over a 30-day (22 Jun - 21 Jul) stretch!! EDIT - This wasn't contradicting you, just an add-on. June 3 is the start that is commonly referred to when saying that the Cubs are the best team in baseball since ... "
  6. Yea, particularly apparent are the complaints about "remember when they used to suck?" and "they're not going to lose again this season." I think both sets of fans have been saying the same things for a month now. It sucks that the Cubs have been playing such great baseball for such an extended period and still can't seem to make up much ground, but I think it's awesome that the competition is between two teams that never have losing streaks rather than being a war of attrition.
  7. I won't be urged to rub anything in anyone's face until after the Cubs are the last team celebrating. This team has a way of making me pay every time I gloat even the slightest bit, and I'm done learning lessons.
  8. Where is this message board? EJ's post was a link. That's awesome! Very funny! I can imagine what we look like to outsiders when we lose. It's not coming up anymore, but a while back, when I googled my screenname, two of the first four hits were a Yankees and a Cardinals board quoting pieces of this site following Cubs losses.
  9. What are the PCs for Webb and Marquis? Did Webb get out of that inning on like 7, or was it just me?
  10. It's only a 1-run game, so they aren't even out of it. It's just a question of whether or not they'll put up a second and third run. I agree though. Ramirez will have two 8th-inning RBIs. Let's just hope the DBacks don't put up 4 or 5 more between now and then.
  11. He was actually good last year. This shouldn't be all that surprising. Well part of the problem about last year is that he was good when we were already out of it and it didn't matter. Maybe he's found a way to recapture that mentality he had when winning and losing was not on the line. Plus, Jones started out slow last year, and he didn't really pick it up until after the middle of May, when I quit watching for health reasons (the health of everyone around me, that is). So I don't really know what it's like to see him get base hits multiple days in a row. I'd like to remember what it's like to not hate Marquis now
  12. There are plenty of players that reliably suck. Neifi comes to mind. Izturis does too. And neither are wearing pinstripes anymore!! :D
  13. This whole Jock Jones being good thing is starting to mess with my perception of reality. I mean, if you can't count on Jock to suck, what CAN you count on??
  14. If Jock has actually turned the corner with his hitting and has finally become worth a crap again, that would be absolutely glorious.
  15. That doesn't seem terribly telling, since it's roughly the breakdown of roster makeup as well. Pitchers are a little under 50 percent of a baseball roster, and being so much more involved in the game than any other position sems like it adequately accounts for the slightly higher percentage. (Also, I'm not sure what these stats have to do with this thread, but it's still interesting, so whatever.)
  16. This last inning of work included 7 pitches (all strikes), in which he topped out at 95 mph and threw a breaking ball or two. Not only does it say the tear is still there, but it also says that less than two weeks ago, he was throwing 45 mph and with much pain. I'll seriously be shocked if the current comeback attempt doesn't falter.
  17. The answer was no until a week or so ago when a poster here was curious about my job. The only NSBBer I've ever talked much baseball with is Fred, but he doesn't count.
  18. Yes, without a doubt.
  19. Yea, anyone would be lucky to get the ball into the basket today. #-o
  20. Nice DP. No more Barroid rages though, please.
  21. Cubs going to the Giants school of defense. And Ward should really have waited until after Lee came back to hurt himself. Jerk.
  22. I wonder if the Giants can maintain this pace the whole game and commit 24 errors.
  23. Jones with another 2-out RBI hit. I'm glad teams other than the Cubs do crap like this now.
